Blue's POV

"Come on, Reyna, I'm sorry." I apologized to Reyna, my voice pleading, falling on deaf ears. The three of us were just discharged from the hospital, and this was the nearest place to eat, so the three of us rode here, plopping down in a booth inside an old fashioned, retro diner lit by neon lights, spelling the words Lolla's Diner. Two milkshakes lay between the three of us, along with a red basket of french fries, crumbs and pools of oil making patches on the piece of paper. A television hung up at the corner broadcasted another news report, clues to finding the missing nurse from Bonnie Springs Cavern, and Reyna stared at the television, ignoring me as her fury seethed inside her.

"If anyone has seen him, or even heard about him, please, call us at 03-BSH-4292. He has four masters in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Potions, he likes dogs and his favourite slug is a Fandango, please, find him!" A female voice played quietly from the speaker, a woman with chocolate brown skin and sad miserable eyes looked into the camera pleadingly, her eyes filled to the brim with tears. Her name flashed up on the screen, Maria Storm. She looked like his sister. As the reporter read out the details of his appearance- a middle aged, black man with dark brown eyes, a tattoo of a heart on his wrist- the tension between the three of us rose, thickening rapidly.

I knew Reyna wasn't interested in that missing person's case.

"You both had the chance to stop the Masked Damsel. The Masked Damsel. We finally had a chance to get that big break, and what did you do, huh?" She snapped irritatedly, turning back towards us. Her fists clenched, her fingernails dug into her palms, her knuckles white.

"Reyna, stop-" Tabby started, but Reyna turned to her, angrily lashing out,

"Stop what, Tabby? You always took it as a joke, but you don't get working for that shithole of a teacher. You don't get why I hate this life so much, going to work, help a crackpot and leave with only a few pieces of gold, you don't!" She slammed her fists down onto the table, the tremors from the table shaking the basket ever so slightly.

"Reyna, it's me you're pissed at, I'm sorry-" I professed, but she turned back to me, her carob brown eyes the colour of rocks that plunged towards the magma in the Magma Caverns, causing explosions that rocked the cavern, the colour of fury.

"We finally had a shot, Blue, don't you understand, sorries can't solve this! We finally had a chance to get out of this life, to do-"

"To do what, Reyna?! Get ourselves killed fighting people much better than us?!" I argued, but she countered,

"Anything sounds better than living this same fucking life everyday!"

"Guys, stop, please." Tabby pleaded, but Reyna waved her off, snarling,

"Why did you do it, huh? Cause you were scared?" She taunted.

"Reyna, Blue, shut up-"

"No wonder they call you coward." Reyna scoffed, those six words stabbing through my heart, making tears well in my eyes.

"Both of you, quiet down! Look!" Tabby hissed, gesturing towards the rest of the diner as subtly as she could. Reyna sent a death glare to me before turned away, before I saw her tense up even more than she already did, her cheeks tinting red. The both of us sat down swiftly as we saw shy eyes follow us, that averted themselves from us once we sat down. But that wasn't what I was focused on, I couldn't care less. I was used to eyes on me, with my days in slinging competitions for cash.
