"Tonight we are victorious!" Alexandra sang as she silently jumped up and down in her room. As she looked down at her clock she realized what time it was.

"Holy cow I've got to go down stairs and eat before Minerva arrives!" She thought after she saw that it was 12:00. The small girl opened her door and sped down the stairs to the kitchen. When she arrived in the kitchen she immediately smelt bacon in the air.

"Mhmmmmm! Baconnnnn! But I thought Mom and Dad had to work today (along with every other day)... Hm I might as well ask them"

"Good morning Mom and Dad! Did you guys not have to work today or did something happen?" Alexandra asked as she pulled the orange juice out of the fridge and poured it into her glass.

"Morning Alexandra." Both parents said as they looked over pages of what was probably work related. You see Alexandra's parents are what you would call "workaholics". They were the parents who forgot their kids birthdays and the parents who never spend time with their offspring.

Alexandra tried to understand that her parents had important jobs and that they put a roof over her head but every year they forget her birthday! Not any of her siblings birthdays. JUST. HERS. How they forget every year Alexandra doesn't know but what she does know is that it hurts her deep.

"So.... Mom and Dad did you forget my birthday again? I mean I understand if you did but it was yesterday and I'm just curious." Alexandra asks after a few moments of silence.
The tension in the room could be cut with a knife.

"Oh Alexandra we are so very sorry for forgetting again! You see your father and I have been terribly busy at work and with the new product we are making. Oh honey I feel terrible!" Alexandra's mother said as she stood to hug the young girl. As Alex was being hugged she tried to hold back the tears that were threatening to spill.

"Okay Alex keep it together. Do. Not. Cry. You know how you feel about crying."

"It's alright but I actually wanted to tell you guys som-" She was cut off by a loud pounding on the front door. Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked towards the shaking door. No one moved an inch until Alexandra slowly made her way to the door.

"Oh, it's just Minerva. Is it already time to leave?" Alexandra asked the old woman as she opened up the door. As they made their way to the center of the kitchen the old woman cleared her throat. "Yes well I'm here to explain everything to you about you daughter..."

"So you're a part of a secret community that we have known nothing about until now and Minerva is taking you to go shopping for your school supplies...?" James, Alexandra's father asks. Everyone is the room seemed in a daze by all of this new information. It was so silent that you could hear every creature that was outside the walls of the house. From birds chirping, the dogs barking next door, and to the neighborhood cat meowing at people for food.

"Yes that is correct, now if you don't mind we are on a tight schedule so we must get going now. Alexandra after you finish your breakfast, say your goodbyes to everyone and then meet me in your room please." The old woman said as she got up and made her way towards Alexandra's room. After everyone heard the door shut they turned expectantly to look at the small girl who was finishing her slightly burnt toast.

"I hope it is okay with everyone if I go. I love y'all and I will be back later tonight with my things for my new school. I love all of you so much so come here." Alexandra said as she motioned the family to stand up and group hug her. Her mother still looked shocked as did her father but her siblings were excited saying things like "I knew you were different!" and "I've got a witch as a sister!".
