The fight between Harper and Augustine had lasted a complete week before the male no other known as Josh came to Augustine's house. The loud knocking had startled the brunette as she dropped a plate that she was about to make a sandwich on; causing it to shatter by her mary jane pumps, thanking the above for wearing them as she would have suffered severe bloody feet. Telling whoever was at the door, she strolled her way over while quickly opening it before going to shut it in his face. "Wait, let me explain why I'm here and I'll leave you alone after." Josh's voice hurried out as his palmed stopped the door from completely shutting. Her dark eyes had rolled slightly before reopening the door fully while as she gestured for him to come in.
"Harper's a mess and she hasn't come out of her room for the past week, only to eat and shower but that's about it. Whatever you guys fought about; you have to make up. You look practically like death, no offense, and you look as if you hadn't come out of the damn house that literally looks like a home to dead people." He rambled out but before he knew it, his mouth was covered by a hand that belonged to Augustine. "You insult my house again and I'll rip your tongue out, understand? Why didn't she just text me and apologize? I had nothing to do with it and she needs to realize I'm not good with all these emotions. I'm used to no one being by my side, Josh." His eyes lit up at the sound of his name rolling off of her tongue, quite smoothly too. Her eyes did not leave his though with every word she spoke, also noticing that tiny sparkle in his eyes. "So do you want to explain to me why you hate me?" Josh had mentioned as Augustine narrowed her eyes towards him. "I don't hate you; I just wish you didn't embarrass me in eleventh grade. remember?" The moment she had spoken those words; a lightbulb went off. "It's in the past though, I've changed so. Besides; you got to make up with Harper."
The small moment was ruined by the scoff that escaped Augustine's mouth, "It's typical and idiotic. We're both practically full-grown adults. You know what? I'll send her a text apologizing but then you are going to explain to me how you know where I live and how you seem so interested in me because I'm not into you if that's what you think." The moment those words left her mouth, his face fell. That adorable, always cheerful smile had dropped a bit into a somewhat sadder one, that went completely unnoticed by the brunette who he thought was beautiful beyond this world.
Waving him into the kitchen with her, she had bent down; picking up the broken pieces of the plate that she had dropped only for Josh to bend down and help her the best he could. Her eyes stayed on him as he focused on the glass pieces. Believe it or not; she did see him in a new light but she could never admit it to herself nor him as it was once more another fear of hers. "Not to be completely a prude but don't you have a curfew, Josh?" She asked him with the emotion known as worry flowed through her words as she glanced at the clock that read that it was almost ten-thirty p.m. The snort that came out of his mouth; she never thought could be attractive but it was quite pleasing. "You think the old hag has control over me? Oh please. I'll stay out at whatever time I want. I'm Josh Graywood for crying out loud! Have you seen these looks? Or these guns?" His normal self was back at it again and before she knew it, he was flexing his biceps in an attempt to woo her but for sure didn't.
She could care less about a guy's features or how he is shaped; for she found what was on the inside more charming and beautiful. With a shake of her head, she pushed him over before throwing the remaining glass pieces away. "Smooth choice of words, Graywood. Very classy." Her small laugh had echoed through the now quiet room before she turned her eyes to stare at the very silent male. Josh was staring up at her with a tiny hopeful smile, that maybe she'd open up to him if she wouldn't Harper. "What? Do I have something on my face? Is there something behind me? I'll also ignore the fact you managed to change my train of thought." She instantly got freaked out that there might be an intruder behind her only for him to shake his head. "You just have a beautiful laugh, Augustine Claire." His words had stabbed her heart with a different kind of emotion, one she hadn't felt in a long time.
"Every sad face has something beautiful to them, Joshua Graywood. Just like every happy smile has sad secrets behind them."
