The dark-haired female had made her way into the small dinner that was very famous in the small town. Augustine had decided to meet up with Harper to talk things out and Augustine did realize she was never opened enough with her best friend, the one who was always there for her through everything. She always preferred to be closed off and never keep people close even if it was someone she'd known forever.
Harper sat at the counter; wearing her famous Chelsea boots with her cute maroon dress. Augustine started comparing herself to Harper, with everything. Harper had everything for her. Going to a great college, high fashion choices and most of all; her great personality that others couldn't help but envy. Harper had always wanted to help people while Augustine just wanted to keep to herself, never thinking of other's feelings and wanted nothing to do with college and always threw clothes on that weren't embarrassing. Augustine wasn't always up to date with high fashion nor did she feel interested in college. The only good outcome of her life was Harper, her photography job and maybe even Josh.
Pushing her hair out of her face, she sat next to her best friend before clearing her throat. "Hey." fell from her lips as she glanced over at her, only to see Harper's brown eyes staring back at her Hazel ones. "We both did wrong." Harper's quiet voice reached her ears, and it was obvious the shorter brunette had been crying previously as the crack was clear as ever in her tone. Harper's eyes were rimmed with redness and it was probably just a bit before Augustine showed up that the shorter brunette had been shedding some water.
"We both did wrong, you are correct. And I know I don't open up much to you anymore but it's just been really hard trying to find who I am and how I can truly be a big part in this world. Somehow I'm trying to leave my mark in this world before I leave forever but I just don't know how to yet." Augustine had reached over, gripping her hand gently in her before shaking her head with a saddened expression on her face.
"Josh came over and told me how horrible you were feeling. I'm sorry, Harper." The first time she had ever really apologized to her was in the first grade and from then on, Augustine had never made one move toward it. What caught her attention though was the wide smile growing onto Harper's face; causing her to become overly confused. "Why are you smiling like that—"
"Josh came over and explained to you about me? How'd he know where you lived, Augustine?" Her cheeky tone came out before she leaned closer to her. "Are you guys dating? Is that why you haven't been opening up as much? If this is about the past crush I had on him—" Augustine had cut her off as soon as she spoke about Josh, as fear of last night flashing through her head again before nervously rubbing her arm.
"Josh and I are just friends, Harp. Nothing more, nothing less. You have to come to realize that; in the end. I'm not the one for a relationship. I'm not stable enough to begin with." Her hazel eyes had scanned their surroundings before she got up from her spot. "We're good, yeah?" In return, Harper nodded with a small smile on her innocent-looking face before Augustine decided to say goodbye and head off; down the road and into the local library to take pictures for her photography job.
Her slim legs had taken her all the way to the mile away library and as soon as she stepped foot in there, she spotted Josh studying away for once. She couldn't help the slight grin appearing on her face before settling herself next to him. "What is this? Josh Graywood actually deciding to do his college work?" She told him with a huge amount of false surprise.
The eyes of his met hers before he let out a loud groan; "I have to do my work, if not. . . I'll get kicked out and the old hag will definitely have my skin for new clothes." His bitter voice reached her ears before she nodded her head. Setting her camera on the table in front of her, she dazed off a bit; unaware of the blonde male staring her down.
Josh Graywood wasn't the type of dude to pin after females who were quite attractive. He was typically a douchebag as many described and he just wasn't the one everyone found to be fun to hang around unless it was at parties. Although the moment he had set his eyes on her; he felt as if maybe he should try to change his way but the female was too stubborn to ever let her walls down for any male to come into her life.
Romantically or friendly, even though lately they have been acting like friends which brings a certain joy to his heart. Before he knew it, he was snapped out of his thoughts by Augustine who was giving the male the strangest look.
"Are you alright there, dude?" Auggy's Australian voice reached his ears before he cleared his throat with a nod. Her eyes held a certain worry in them before she stood up, grabbing her camera; "I should be off, y' know. I have to try and take pictures, all that jazz." Augustine mumbled softly as she turned her camera on while Josh nodded his head. She had only stated that so she had an excuse to get rid of this weird fluttering feeling in her chest; as she had to be at work in the next fifteen minutes.
"Of course. Well, you know where I'll be for the next two hours, Gus."
The brunette female had sat at the same diner she was previously at with Harper; working her hours. She had a part-time job here with her Aunt May. She had to get this job because she had to pay her bills off, for her photography job wouldn't pay her until next month. While the female was sat in her waitress uniform, it was no big deal that the lazy female captured attention of very angry customers.
"Listen if she isn't going to do her job, Mary, she needs to leave and stop making these folks so angry all the time." Her boss had spoken to her Aunt Mary who was no less a couple of years older than Augustine before she got up from her seat, clearing her throat.
"It's completely my fault, sir. I should be respecting my job and you plus this place along with the folks from this small town. For now on I'll try my best to do my job, okay?" Augustine's gentle voice came out before giving her Aunt a sly grin. Mary shook her head muttering teenagers under her breath, knowing that her niece was a full-grown adult and not some partying teenager anymore.
With a shake of her head, Augustine had simply gone back to work with a laugh, leaving Mary and their boss; shaking their head at the Brunette who did what she was best at. Putting smiles on everyone's face besides her.
