Alana | Ivory

Alana stared at her phone, not knowing whether she should respond to his voicemails or not. What hurt her was the fact that he realized his mistake after she stopped leaving him messages. One month of trying and this is what she gets. A spineless apology without a proper reason. He was either a really stupid person or a pathetic one.

It didn't help that she actually liked him. What kind of a person did that to someone? She spent a month chasing after someone that had wronged her. Her pride was wounded and it hurt. Sorry didn't fix things. It did not bring one's self-respect back.

It hurt. It was as simple and complicated as that.

"Stop moping around," Ivory said, making Alana scooch to the side as she joined her best friend on the bed.

"I'm not moping, Ivy," Alana grumbled.

"Who are you kidding, Lana?" Ivory spread her printouts over the bed, showing the pictures she took earlier this week. "You don't even know this guy properly. Look, I get it that you guys talked a lot and that means something. And I know I told you to give him a chance. But if he doesn't care about your self-respect, he's not worth it."

"It's not like that. You don't need to rub it in my face that I called him for a month. I know it was stupid and embarrassing. But now, he's calling back too."

"Aww, that's so sweet." Ivory said sarcastically. "Happily ever after to the two of you."

Alana scoffed as she picked up one of the pictures Ivy took. "Oh, shut up. There's no such thing as happily ever after."

Ivory didn't respond as she sifted through her work, deeply immersed in it. Lana frowned at her and hit her with a pillow.

"Ow, stop! You're messing my work." She yelped.

"Tell me what to do!" Alana whined. "Should I call him back? I know he's sorry."

"No, you dumbass. Forget that idiot and his poor ass apology. I don't like him."

"But he's not bad, right?"

"You sound like you're trying to convince yourself and not me."

"Ivy, I'm serious. I don't want to waste time in punishing him, eye for an eye."

"Fine, do whatever. But if he puts one toe out of line, let him know he's dead meat."

"Ooo, definitely."

Jared | Jess

"You look like you could use coffee, Romeo," Jess said as she placed a cup of the same in front of him.

"She's just a friend," Jared mumbled. "...or was."

"You called her beautiful. And I know you can call anyone beautiful but I know you, Jared. I know what you meant."

"Were you eavesdropping on me while I left her a voicemail?" He straightened up glaring at his cousin.

"Maybe? You're too much of an idiot to do anything yourself. You should keep your wing-woman updated on your progress or lack thereof, you know." She said firmly.

Jess dropped into the seat beside him, watching him as he took a sip of his coffee.

"Who appointed you as my wing-woman? I don't need one."

"Me. And yes, you obviously do."

He groaned loudly. "Okay, maybe. But I need to fix this mess first before we think about anything else. How am I supposed to do that?"

"Call her, text her, send her stuff. You know where she lives." Jess grinned.

Jared's eyes widened. He placed set his coffee on the table then thought for a bit. "You know what? That actually makes sense. I am going to fix this. I'll start by trying again."

His sister gave him a nod of approval. "Atta, boy."

He rolled his eyes but let her have her triumph for a fraction of a moment. She was his sister after all.
