Lena looked down at the grave, tears streaming down her face. Why did Kara never tell her? Why did she keep it a secret for so long? Why did she only find out that her best friend was Supergirl as she was dying?

The CEO knelt down to her late friend's grave and put the flowers she had bought next to the headstone. She wondered if Kara had actually said the quote they had put on her headstone but knowing her, she did.

I believe you keep fighting. Whether you are stuck on another world, whether or not you have your powers, you never give in.

Lena cried once again, hearing those words in Kara's voice as she read them. She stood back up and bowed her head for a few minutes, thinking about all the times she should have told Kara how she felt. She had so many chances to tell the reporter that she was in love but she always thought 'There's always next time'. The last time Lena saw Kara was an hour before Supergirl came crashing through the window with a collapsed lung and a bullet in her heart.

Lena recalled that last moment with her best friend as if it was yesterday.

(Flashback)

"I hope you didn't struggle with parking or any of that." Lena stood when her friend walked in. She motioned for Kara to sit but she just stood.

"No, no, it's fine. I took the bus."

"Good. Take a seat, I won't be too long. Where is the reservation?" She said. The mind-numbing work was easier to handle when she was talking to someone. She needed that distraction so she didn't go stir crazy with the tedious math work that was unfortunately required.

"It's at this restaurant across from Noonan's. I'm not sure what it's called but Alex booked it while I was... you know..." Kara trailed off, not wanting to mention her recent captivity.

"Yeah. Well, at least we can have that chat you want over a nice dinner." Both women nodded and continued to talk for a while. When Lena had finished her work, they went to dinner.

"I was thinking that we could start the talk now?" Lena picked up the last mouthful of her salad and Kara slurper the last bit of her soup.

"Right. There's something I have to tell you but I'm not sure how you are going to react and I don't know if you will..."

"Kara, just..."

"Right." She started fidgeting and playing with her glasses. She suddenly got the idea to take them off but just as she was going to, both her and Lena jumped at a scream which came from the other side of the room. "I am going to go make a call. I'll be back soon."

Two hours later, Lena was still waiting at the table. She decided to give up on the blonde who had obviously gotten cold feet about letting the truth out. Lena rolled her eyes and left more than enough money for the check before leaving and going back to her office.

An hour after that, Supergirl was thrown through the window. Lena rushed to her, hearing only a few words before the hero died in her arms.

"I'm Kara. I love you, Lena."

(End of Flashback)

"Lena, I am going to go. Maggie is already home with Ruby and I need to make sure Reign doesn't come for them. Just call if you need anything." Alex's grief-ridden, soft voice caught Lena's attention and pulled her out of her memories. Lena grabbed Alex's hand before she could go.

"Please stay. Or, can I come with you? I can't be alone, I can't..." Lena started crying again. Alex nodded and hugged the brunette. They went back to Alex's apartment and cried themselves to sleep.

The next morning, Lena was on Alex's couch with a blanket wrapped around her. When Maggie walked out of Alex's room with a towel around her, she didn't expect to see Lena watching the news story on Supergirl's death.

Maggie rushed to the remote and turned the TV off. "You need a drink. Or anything to get your mind off this."

"It happened two days ago, Maggie. How am I supposed to get my mind off it?"

"A few too many drinks and karaoke." Lena shook her head, making Maggie scoff. "Look, Alex is at the DEO and Ruby is at school. I am going crazy not being able to go back to work so you are going to come to the bar with me so we can both forget our pain."

"Your pain? What happened?" Lena sat up, genuinely worried.

"Shooting. Bullet hit my sternum. It stopped there but I'm not cleared for work yet. Can you just come to the bar? Please? I would try to do those puppy eyes that Kara did but I don't think anyone can even get close to what she could do." That cheered Lena up slightly and she giggled.

"Fine. I'll come. Just let me get dressed into something that isn't funeral attire."

"You seriously slept in those?" Maggie retorted as the brunette got up and threw some comfortable clothes on.

At the bar, Maggie and Lena sang multiple songs and drank way too much. They had a great time and they both forgot about their problems for a while. They both forgot about the loss of Supergirl and the threat of Reign. The only thing they worried about was the hangover they would have the next morning.

Yes, in this Alex and Maggie were together. It's set as if the fight with Reign in Season 3 Episode 9 went differently. I hope y'all enjoyed. Please send me any ideas you have for another one shot.

Love you all...
