Chapter 2:

I walk into the house to see my brother, Michael, Calum, and Luke all sitting at the kitchen table talking about video games and other boy stuff. I try not to make eye contact with Luke because I know I'm going to get embarassed for whatever reason. I walk past the kitchen and upstairs to my bedroom. I lay on my bed and about twenty minutes later I hear loud music coming from downstairs and I know it's them jamming out in the garage. So far it sounds horrible but they just started the band so I don't expect them to sound perfect just yet. I turn over onto my stomach and pull out my yellow iPhone from my pocket. I swipe passed a couple pages on the home screen until I find my text messaging app. I scroll through my texts and I decide to text my friend, Julia. All of a sudden a knock sounds at my door and I roll my eyes because I don't really want to be bothered right this minute.

"Come in," I yell. The door opens and it's my little sister.

"Hey, what do you want?" I ask her.

"Ashton wants you to come downstairs," mine and Ashton's sister, Lauren, tells me.

"Lauren just tell him that I don't want to. Tell him I'm busy," I say to her with a groan in my voice.

"But you're not busy. You're just messing around with your phone. I'd be lying if I said that," she says and puts one hand on her hip.

"Fine, I'll be downstairs in a minute," I roll my eyes.

"Yay!" she says with glee.

I get up and walk downstairs and the sound of music gets louder as I get closer to the garage. I open the door to see each of the boys standing there, with their instruments, waiting for me. The music stops when they see me waiting by the door.

"Hey Em!" Michael says and runs over to hug me with his guitar still slung over him.

"Hey, so you guys wanted me to watch you play or something?" I ask them.

"Yeah, do you mind?" Ashton says to me over his drums.

"That's fine. What song are you guys gonna do right now?" I ask them.

"We're going to play 'American Idiot' by Green Day first," Ashton says to me.

"Ooh, great song. Go ahead, let me see it," I tell them. I grab a chair and sit down in it; ready to watch them. They start the song and so far it doesn't sound too bad. I finally get to hear Luke sing but Michael starts off the song. I've always known that Michael was a great singer. He's my best friend and we would play music in my room and sing along to it all the time. The chorus finally begins and Luke sings this part. My heart stops and I feel like I've turned into the heart-eyed emoji on the iPhone keyboard. His voice is the best thing I have ever heard. He sounds perfect. And for a new band they mesh well together too. This is actually not as scary for me right now like I originally thought it was going to be. I was sure I was going to pass out each time Luke came over but I'm starting to feel a little more comfortable, especially in this setting. I bob my head to the sounds of punk rock and pop melodies enter my ears and it makes me smile throughout it all. Once the song ends I immediately stand up and clap my hands a few times.

"Surprisingly for a first time as a band, you guys sound really really good together. I enjoyed it," I tell them honestly.

"Suprisingly?" Ashton jokes.

"Yeah. I wasn't sure how well you guys would sound together since you guys just started this thing today basically. But you're all really good," I tell them and a smile forms on Luke's lips and he turns away for a second with a slightly bashful look on his face.

"So you think we should continue this?" Calum chimes in.

"Yes definitely!" I tell them.

"Alright cool. Well we should start writing some of our own stuff then," Michael says. They all nod in agreement.

"I'll be in my room if you need me again," I say to my brother who's currently sitting behind his drums twirling his drumsticks around looking like he was lost in a daze.

"Oh yeah, got it. See ya," Ashton says and I wave to the guys before I walk back inside. Once I get inside I lean my back up against the small garage door and slide down to the ground in enjoyment. I bite my lip with Luke's voice playing over and over in my head. His voice gives me chills up and down my arms as I overhear the band playing another song. His voice puts such a big smile on my face and I have to get up and leave before I start having some sort of smiling-happy-attack and someone sees me.

***********

I hear a knock on my bedroom door and I look up at it.

"Come in," I yell. The door opens and Lauren comes in.

"Close the door please," I say to her and she closes it behind her. She walks over to me and sits on the end of my bed. She has this cute smirk on her face as if she has something to tell me.

"Emilyyyyy, I think you like a boyyyyy!" Lauren says cutely.

"Wait, who and how would you know?!" I say in surprise. How does she know I like someone? I doubt she knows it's Luke.

"I saw you earlier when you came in after watching the boys play a song for you in the garage. You like one of them. I just know it!" she exclaims.

"I doubt you'd know who," I laugh.

"It's Luke," she giggles. I stare in shock at her for a moment and then speak.

"Wait, how do you know this?" I ask her with still a bit of shock in my voice.

"I doubt you'd like Michael because he's your best friend and Calum doesn't seem like he'd be your type and Ashton is our brother so of course not him so I was sure it had to be Luke," she says and smiles really big again.

"Well, okay yeah I do like Luke. I like him a lot. He's so cute and his voice is my favorite thing ever," I go on and on about him to my little sister.

"I think that's really cute," she says with a cute smile on her face.

"Well thank you I guess," I laugh a little. Great, now my sister knows about my love for Luke.

**Luke's POV**

We finish up practice finally and today went well I think. I think we're going to work well together as a band.

"Dude your sister, Emily, is hot," Calum says to Ashton. My hand rolls up into a small fist but I let go of it and try to just brush it off. Jealousy at its best.

"Want me to hook you up?" Ashton jokingly says with a laugh, "just kidding bro, I'm honestly not sure if I want any of you dating my sister just yet."

So Ashton doesn't want any of us dating her then, I guess. That sucks for me since I've kind of been wanting to ask her out for a while now. No one knows that I like her. Well, Calum knows but that's it. I want to tell Ashton that I like her because I just need his approval first before I ask her out. He's really protective over her and I don't blame him for that. He's been close with Emily since they are twins. But I just don't know when is a good time for me to talk to her. I just wish she liked me back.

"Okay, we all know I wouldn't go out with Emily. She's my best friend and I wanna keep it that way. But what about you, Luke? Do you want her like Cal does?" Michael says with a laugh. My face starts to turn a shade of pink and I look back down at my guitar. I try not to look up because I know my cheeks are as red as a lobster right now.

"I, uh," is all I can say and the guys can already tell what my answer is.

"Dude, I knew you had a crush on her!" Michael says excitedly.

"How long have you liked my sister?" Ashton asks me curiously.

"Um, uh, about a year now I think," I say nervously.

"Awwh now that's adorable!" Michael says and claps his hands together in joy of this news.

"Be careful with her. She's a bit fragile sometimes but I know she'd like to hear how you feel. It might make her happy and she needs that," Ash tells me and a smile forms on my lips. Maybe I should tell her how I feel then. But I'm just so scared because I feel like she doesn't like me back though.
