Chapter Nine (Really SHORT Chapter)

THUMP

Matt's eyes open. All he sees is darkness, most likely because there's a pile of papers on his face. He jolts up, the pieces of paper falling off his face and off the bed. He sees Mark and Jack standing there, grins on their faces.

"What?" Matt asks.

"Here's your script for the talent show, loser." Mark teasingly exclaims, raising his arms upward to the sky as if praising the gods.

"Wait... But I screwed up the audition...?"

"Screw that." Jack replies, "We're gonna sneak you in."

"Uh whaaaa..!?" Matt says in a surprised tone. He looks at the two boys back and forth.

"You deserve that spot, bud." Mark pats his sorrowful friend of the back, hoping to talk some sense into him, "Look, people screw up and that's normal. But, not giving someone a second chance is just... Inhumane."

"But, life is unfair."

"Yea, well so is love. Love tends to favour most people and right now, it is trying so hard to get you a spot on that show, whether people like it or not!"

"That's ridiculous, Mark."

"You're ridiculous!"

"Look, I don't wanna be an underdog in this situation." He sighs, lying back on his bed, "Maybe it's time to face facts and let this audition go. Let Stephanie go..."

Mark looks to his Irish friend then back at Matt. Sean gives him a slight grin, turning his head and taking a deep breath, realizing how cheese it's gonna become.

"Matt... You have a motivation. You have a goal and your goal is getting Stephanie. Look, maybe there's some other way to get her to like you that doesn't involve expressing it to the whole school.. but, she only knows of you from stage. From being yourself. From doing what you love. Matt, when you're with her, sometimes I feel like you try to outsmart yourself, and you only fool yourself or make a scene you didn't intend. You sometimes think that you're capable of doing things your own way and when that fails, you just give up." Matthew looks up to Jack who at this point is smiling wide, "But, you got us, bro! Like, you keep pushing us away when we try to help and look at all what happened right now. We refuse to keep watching you try to carry things yourself when you literally got a whole squad routing for you!"

Mark starts to smile as well, his hands on his hips and his chest out whilst holding his breath, showing pride and bravery.

"When you get on that stage, be yourself! Let your little minions do the rest." He says with might, but only deflates when he realizes he's run out of air.

"That's us. The minions." Jack replies.

Matt slowly gets back to a sitting position, looking around as the two boys smile widely at him.

He nods, "Ok then. We're doing this."

A/N: HI! I am so sorry for the long hiatus. I am actually horrible. You guys have been asking for an update and ik this is long overdue but, here it is... Sort of! In all honesty, I've been stumped on how the story is gonna continue. I started writing chapter 9 like since March or April but midway into it, I lost motivation. Thus, me not updating in too long. I had an idea on what would happen but, idk, overtime I got too lazy to write it and yes I have been busy this summer but still, that doesn't give me a get out of free jail card (although, for some reason I've  been getting inspo for new stories instead of inspo for my current one (PLUGGING MY DETROIT FANFIC COIGH COUGH)) I am so sooooo sorry, IK you've been anticipating a long chapter, but this is all I could produce at the moment. Hopefully, I can get inspired and get motivated to keep writing this story. I know how this story ends and ik you guys want to know too, so I'll try to work hard to get to that endgame. I'm sorry in case I don't update again in the future!!! I love love loooove telling this story and for sure Steph and Matt will return!!!!!!!!!!!
