•E/C: Eye Color
•Y/N: Your Name

Author's POV:

E/C eyes go left and right, following the figure of a man who paces back and forth in the living room while having a conversation on the phone. Not too long ago, Y/N's foster father, Darin, had received a call from the police. The male spoke softly, yet anxiously to the man on the other line, while the girl on the couch tries to decipher the nature of the call. No doubt it's about her missing sister, Catherine, but is it good news or bad? She's worried.

Though the lost sibling isn't actually related to her, she cares deeply for her safety. After all, she's been gone for so long now. Anything could've happened. Slowly, her small hand travels to her right and bumps into another. The girl places hers on top of the invisible appendage belonging to her guardian angel and squeezes it tightly out of nervousness. The figure beside the child sends the girl a soft look even though he knows she cannot see it. Suddenly, the depressing aura vanished the moment Darin's blue eyes widened.

"Oh my God! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Yes. Yes, we can be there in about ten minutes. All right, thank you. Goodbye." With a smile on his face, Darin hangs up before shoving his phone into his jean pocket. He then turns to his foster daughter with tears of joy forming in his eyes. "They've found her, Y/N! They finally found her. Hurry, get your shoes on. We have to go."

Before the child could express her excitement, her left hand is grabbed, and she's pulled off of the comfy couch. She looks back to where she sat while being dragged to the front door with her right hand outstretched towards the invisible angel. Laurence's eyes widen at the suddenness of Darin's actions and stands to follow them immediately. Y/N's feet are shoved into grey sneakers before she is brought out to the car and buckled in. She looks around in hopes that her new friend would come with them to the police station.

Laurence smiles as the car drives off before stretching his large wings. With a few flaps, he runs into the street and takes flight, chasing the vehicle from above. Soon enough, the tan Honda Civic parks in the lot across from the station, and the two get out of the car. They rush into the building, while the angel lands and follows them inside. He catches up quick and instantly takes note of the dark aura clouding the place.

'I sense troublesome souls in here.' Silver eyes narrow while gazing around. He doesn't like it one bit, so he was sure to stay close to the one he swore to look after. After passing through security, the three stop at a desk so that Darin could speak to the man behind it.

"Y/N, why don't you have a seat?"

The girl gives a nod before sitting in a chair not too far away from the desk. Laurence stands close, and, soon enough, Darin joins his foster daughter, sitting beside her as he anxiously waits with a tapping toe. Eventually, an officer in his late twenties steps in front of them and gives a light smile in greeting.

"Darin Bardeau?" He asks to make sure he's talking to the right people.

"Yes." Darin stands in front of the man in uniform whose smile suddenly fades.

"There's something I must tell you before I let you see her," he claims in a serious tone. Darin tenses up with an unpleased look. He wants to see his daughter. Nothing else matters to him right now.

"I don't care. I need to see her now."

"You don't understand, sir. She-" the officer cuts himself off when his gaze falls on the young girl sitting in the chair behind the worried father. He takes a deep breath before leaning in to whisper something into Darin's ear. Whatever it is that was said made the brown-haired male upset.
