•Y/N: Your Name

Author's POV:

Laurence couldn't seem to tear his gaze away from the loathsome creature sitting on the bed that Y/N had used to sleep on during Catherine's disappearance. He had come to terms with the fact that the girl will want to spend time with her sister once she came home, but that doesn't mean he likes it. He promised to remain vigilant whenever they are in the same room together in order to help his friend whenever she might need it. It's been almost thirty minutes now that Y/N has been trying to get the teenager to play a game with her, and, yet, Catherine's response remains the same. She doesn't speak, only stares with a blank look.

"Oh, this puzzle hasn't been opened yet, look!" Excitedly, the girl holds up an unopened box of white puzzle pieces. This time, Catherine responds by rolling her eyes in annoyance. She has had enough.

"Leave me alone. Your games are stupid," she mutters in a hoarse voice, causing her sister's little heart to break. Y/N lowers the box onto her lap and looks down at it in disappointment. She doesn't understand; Catherine used to love playing games with her. Her bottom lips quivers as she lets out a small sniffle. Upon seeing this, Laurence sends a sharp glare towards the teen before standing from his seat on the floor. He walks away from the wall to stand behind Y/N before wrapping his arms around her small form to comfort the poor child. She jumps in surprise before realizing what was done and immediately relaxes into the angel's warm hug.

"At least you like my games," she mutters while looking up at her companion with a gentle smile. Though she can't actually see him, she was able to tell where he is. Unbeknownst to her, Laurence returns the gesture as he squeezes her body a bit tighter. That smile means the world to him. He'll do anything to keep it on her face. Catherine's brows scrunch together upon feeling puzzled by her sister's words. And, who is she smiling at? The ceiling?

"Do you want to play with me?" Y/N asks, referring to her heavenly protector. Bending down some, the angel whispers in her ear with a soft, multi-toned voice

"Of course. Your games are the best." The male's smooth voice scent shivers down the child's spine. She giggles, since his breath had tickled her ear.

"Hey, that tickles."

"What are you talking about?" Catherine utters, beyond confused. Her captors weren't even as confusing as the girl on the floor, and they had always played mind games with her, much to her displeasure. This was just odd. No one is there. Y/N smiles sweetly at the female, happy to finally introduce her companion.

"My friend, of course. He loves games! You should watch him do a Rubik's cube. He can finish it in under ten seconds!"

"There's no one here, idiot. Your friend is fake." At that, Y/N frowns before looking up at her invisible friend.

"No, he's not. He's right here. He's hugging me. I can't see him either, but he's right here," she insists, hoping her sister would believe her. That way, they can all be friends and play together. Y/N holds tightly to the angel's arms, not quite understanding why her sister isn't acting like her usual self.

"Do not waste your breath on her," the angel suggests in a low tone, wanting to get her away from the unpleasant girl. "She will never believe in me."

"Why not?" She asks him, saddened by the fact that her sister will never understand.

"Would you stop that!? You're freaking me out!" Incredibly nervous because of Y/N's behavior, Catherine pulls off her shoe before throwing it at the child's head. The force sent her back into Laurence's chest and caused her to cry. The impact hurt greatly due to the angel's metal armor slamming against the back of her head. He gasps upon seeing the tears streaming down her cheeks as sobs slip past her lips. That was the last straw. Laurence pulls the girl up before dragging her out of that godforsaken room. He slams the door shut behind them, but to Catherine, it just looked like the girl stormed out. She huffs before lying on her bed to get some quiet time to herself. It's been a long time since she's been able to relax.
