"Are you stupid?" is what Sungjin says when Younghyun shows him the note. "'Midnight, on the bridge'? 'Come alone'? Younghyun, that's – this isn't safe! You're not seriously thinking about going, right?"

Younghyun glues his gaze to his hands.

"Right?" Sungjin repeats, sounding a lot less certain.

"Well – "

"Younghyun, for God's sake, Jae is gone. You know that."

"No I don't."

"They found his body, Younghyun."

"I didn't."

Sungjin gives up, and that night Younghyun shows up ten minutes to midnight, on the bridge. Sungjin is wrong after all.

Jae is there in all his blonde-haired, four-eyed glory, wearing a shit-eating grin on his face. His skin is almost glowing under the dim light of the moon, and Younghyun bites the inside of his cheek not to smile back at him.

It's been far too long.

"You came," Jae says. His voice is warm – warm like the sweaters Younghyun always used to steal from him, warm like the summer sunshine he's kissed Younghyun under time and time again – and it's like he never left.

"Of course I did," Younghyun grumbles. "Couldn't miss a chance to see you, could I?"

"I guess not," Jae laughs. he stops closer, and Younghyun's breath hitches. "How long did it take to convince Sungjin to let you come see me?"

Younghyun swallows. "Not – not long," he lies. "He knows how i feel."

"Mhm," Jae hums in agreement, bringing a hand up to cup Younghyun's cheek. "And how exactly do you feel, babe?"

Younghyun's cheeks flush, and before he can answer, Jae kisses him, soft and sweet and slow. It's everything he's missed in the past year he's spent without him, and he doesn't care where Jae went, doesn't care how Jae came back, never wants to let go of this moment –

His watch beeps twice – midnight – and Younghyun blinks. Jae is gone.
