Olivia tried to back out of the door. If she had made it she would of been fine. No danger no problems. Just her vs the world. Unfortunately she bumped into a wall instead of walking out the door, and watched as the young beast ran into the room.
The 'beast' looked to be no older than 8. She was wearing the brightest outfit Olivia had ever seen. A pink tutu over a bright yellow shirt and green pants along with light up sneakers. Of course everything was covered in ash but the neon shown through. It almost blinded her.
The 'beast' looked at her, "you aren't my mommy."
Olivia didn't know what to say. All she could think of was a rollerskating rink.
This beast, of course, was a child who seemed to be very impatient. She crossed her arms and pouts at Olivia, "who are you?"
"Uh... Olivia." She manages, thinking of an escape plan.
Wolves she can handle. Heck she's even handed a tiger that escaped a zoo...it had been to climb a tree but still she handled it.
But a child? A human child? And one so...different.
The child's hair grew everywhere. A giant black cloud of frizz and curls that wrapped around her head. Her dark skin made her clothes seem brighter and made Olivia worry that the child had been burned. Her eyes...clashed with everything. Bright, green, full of joy, hope and at the moment, anger at Olivia.
The only people Olivia had seen...or remembers seeing, had been her parents. Who looked nothing like this girl. And had a different clothing style than her.
"Well Olivia you'd better sit." She sighs and sits in an empty chair and nods to another.
Olivia knew the extra chairs had been for the girls parents. She sat anyways, hoping the girl at least had some food.
The girl looks at Olivia's bag, then pulls a tea pot out of her own pink sparkly backpack.
Olivia almost groans as she pours the imaginary tea into an imaginary cup, "I don't have time for this."
"My house my rules." She glares.
Olivia decides that since it's dark outside and the trees could fall if she just sleeps put there, then the childs tea party wouldn't be that torturous. She picks up the imaginary cup and sips it, "mm....yeah good and all. You never told me your name?"
"Juniper." She looks at Olivia, hesitant, them gives her a buck toothed smile.
Olivia couldn't help but laugh, this child, juniper, had at least 3 missing teeth. Olivia never thought that she looked like that as a child, but it seems she did.
Juniper frowns, "well rude. Now you aren't getting cookies."
"Do you actually have some?" Olivia still laughs.
Juniper pulls out a package of saltines and grins again, "yup!"
When Olivia was younger, and before all this began, she hated saltines. But now they could of been chocolate, "oh what...devine looking cookies." She tries to sound proper.
Juniper smiles and hands her a stack, "yeah devine!"
Olivia could of eaten them all in a bite but she controls herself for the little girl. It took her a bit to process but she realized that this girl couldn't of been more than 3 when this all started. Her parents must have done this with her to cope with all this.
Juniper eats hers quickly though, maybe Olivia was wrong about being slow.
She starts eating at the same place then looks at Juniper, "where are your parents?"
Juniper shrugs, "they said to wait here. Left me this bag in case I got hungry. It had a lot of food in it."
Olivia look at the bag and her heart drops, the bag could of had weeks worth of food in it, but it was empty.
"Was it full...when they left?" She had to ask.
Juniper nods, "yeah they'll be back soon. It's only been a few weeks."
Olivia sighs and stands, "I'm done with my cookies. Thank you. May I start a fire?"
"...please." Juniper nods.
Olivia looks at her, noticing how skinny she was. It had been more than a few weeks. It had been months, "...can you help me gather some wood?"
"Yes!" She seems happy to help, she runs outside and collects branches that are now basically charcoal.
Olivia stays still, looking at the girl, if she had stayed in the same spot...waiting on her own parents...she would of been like Juniper. And they both would of died.
