The rain pounded against the car window as we drove away from my childhood home.
"Cheer up Jordyn New Jersey is going to be fun" My dad smiles from the driving seat of the car. His hair was brown and gelled to one side. His black rimmed glasses were firmly pressed up against his nose.
"Sure" I mumble. I was leaving my friends, and my life behind just because my dad got a new job.
"I can't wait to make new friends" My 8 year old brother, Brandon, cheers. He was sitting in a car seat which was black and grey. The freckles on his nose were a dark as it was winter. He had light blonde hair that sat flat against his forehead.
"Shut up Brandon" I yell causing him to shut up immediately.
"Watch your mouth Jordyn"My mum scolds me. I sigh and look out of the window. The rain came down in buckets, smashing against the window. The radio was quiet as no one was talking in the car.
"Dad what's our new house like" Brandon asks 30 minuets into the car journey.
"It's got a big garden and lots of trees for you to climb. Nice big bedrooms oh and there's a forest right in front of the house" Dad explains with more exitment in his voice than it actually was.
"Who did it belong to before us" I question acctually interested for once.
"It belong to a family of 5 well 4 when they moved out" Dad pushes his glasses up.
"What happened to the other one" Brandon says moving his light blonde hair out of his face.
"Their son was-"
"Don't say it" Mum stops Dad before could finnish.
"Their son was what, what happened to their son" Brandon begged.
"Nothing Brandon, just forget i said anything"
After driving for 3 hours we stopped at a service station because Brandon was moaning that he needed the toilet. We walk through the automatic doors as Brandon ran off.
"We will meet you at Starbucks" Dad announces as mum follows Brandon.
"Okay" She says.
Starbucks was kinda busy so Dad and I had to wait out side of it. As we were waiting my phone pings. It was a weather waring for a storm tonight.
"There's supposed to be a storm tonight Dad" I say.
"Hopefully we will be in our house by then"
"Dad will you tell me about the families son" I ask.
"No" He says bluntly. "Your mum would kill me if i told you"
"I won't tell her please dad" I plead.
"I said no Jordyn stop pestering me" Dad shouts making passers by turn and look at us.
"Sorry" I mutter and stare at the floor.
Eventually Mum and Brandon come back and we all pile back into the car.
"Only 2 hours left" Mum cheers but no one responds. I'm just tired and I want nothing more than to get to this new house and sleep.
