I've been falling apart, self-destructive and hard, it's okay, it's okay if you hate me.
"Ricky." Bree said, shaking me.
She has been trying to wake me up for the last hour, I was trying to pretend like I was still asleep so she'd go away but I could see that this wasn't going to work and she was going to keep bugging me until I woke up.
"What?" I groaned, rolling over, eyes still closed.
"It's time to get up." she said.
"I don't want to get up."
"My mom made breakfast. She wants us to do something besides lay around all day." she said.
I opened one eye, looking at her. "Aren't we going to that concert?"
"Did you still want to go?" she asked.
"Yeah, sure, whatever." I said, rolling back over.
She sighed and stood up. "We can if you stop being so damn grumpy."
"You woke me up. Who isn't grumpy when they're being woken up in the morning."
i'll slit my throat so i bleed the truth. cut out my tongue so i can't speak no excuse.
I managed to finally get out of bed about fifteen minutes, I had to beg Bree to leave the room so I could get dressed, she wanted to check my bandage, I told her it could wait, she said I looked like I was in pain, I told her if she didn't leave then I was going back to bed and she can forget about the concert.
She left.
I used the bathroom, brushed my teeth, changed into some different clothes and made my way downstairs. Bree and her mother were in the middle of a conversation when I got down there.
Bree: "Mom, Ricky's going to be with me, it's going to be fine."
Mom: "Do you really think it's safe for him to be going out, he just got out of the hospital."
Bree: "You talk about him like he was a burn victim or something."
Mom: "You know what I mean. Plus, I don't know where this place is or how the people are, they could overpower both of you."
Bree: "I'm sure we can take care of ourselves."
Mom: "Fine. But you'll call me as soon as you get there and as soon as you guys leave to come back home."
Bree: "Of course."
I clear my throat, "Morning." I say, pretending like I had just walked in, and hadn't been standing there, evasedropping.
"Oh, good morning, Ricky!" Bree's mom said, all cheerful.
"We were just talking about the concert." Bree said, handing me a plate full of food. Eggs, sausage, two biscuits.
"Really?"
"Yeah. I got the approval."
I forced a smile and looked at Bree's mom. "I'll take good care of her."
"Thank you, Ricky." she said, coming over and giving me a hug and a kiss on the forehead.
"No problem, it's the least I could do, you are letting me live in your house, rent free." I said.
She smiled. "That's true. Anyways, I guess I'll see the two of you tomorrow?"
"Yep." we said, both begining to eat.
She said goodbye and left for work. I put my plate down, staring at Bree. "What?" she asked.
"Nothing. What time do we need to leave?"
