Myra
The merman approached the castle. He didn't seem to notice me, at least I hope not.
Judging how his breathing and eyes were, I could tell that he was nervous. I adjusted my position so that I can see him clearer.
He looked like he wanted to enter the grand palace, however it looks like something is bugging his mind, causing him to reluctantly go inside the castle. I just stood here... recomposing myself of what my next course of action would be. Would I follow him inside or would I just stay here?
Something suddenly entered my mind... why am I even spying on this merman? It's not like-
I got cut off as I saw the merman come out of the palace and he was holding something. I decided to squint my eyes to see what he was holding. I was not able to formulate what it really was, seeing as how he already left the water dome.
I followed his tracks and went outside. I saw no trace of him anywhere. I thought only Tenorrha was capable of summoning complex things? So how did this merman suddenly disappear? Is he also capable of successfully accomplishing the infamous 3rd factor of summoning also?
All these questions in my head is starting to give me a headache so I just stared to the horizon.
Everything was so relaxing, so peaceful. Well, that is, without Tenorrha landing right in front of me with a parachute! Did she intend of giving me a heart attack!?
"Myra... this is bad. VERY BAD." She said rather impassively.
"At least you're composed..." I replied back.
She looked to the ground beside me, "I am trying to," her eyes deterred any emotion she is feeling. "Have you seem someone enter the palace?"
"Uhh... yes. I actually did see someone." I answered.
"Was it a merman?" She quickly retorted. Does she already know of the merman? Because her questions seem to describe him excellently well.
"Yup, he just went in the palace, came out with something in his hands, and left. I followed him but he already vanished when I went out." I explained.
Tenorrha hesitated to speak but she eventually did, "Why am I so stupid as to leave it just sitting there!? How am I such an imbecile as to not even tuck it away somewhere!? I should have known that this would happen! That when all of us are gone, someone will steal it!" I could tell the disappointment in her tone.
She was running out of breath so I cut in. "What is this it you are talking about? The orb?" I was kinda getting curious anyway.
"It isn't the broadcast orb. Didn't you see Yiniri take it with her?" Yiniri paused to catch her breath. "What was taken is much more special... the GCD or the Gravitational Caster Device!"
"The what?"
"Oh, nothing... anyway, can I give you a request... an entreaty of sorts?" She said kind of out of the blue.
"Anything." I reassured.
"Sure?" She double checked.
"I. AM. SURE." I emphasized to show my seriousness.
"...Thanks," she smiled and tilted her head slightly. "I am so lucky to have a kind friend like you."
I was about to reply when she continued, "So... about the favor. Can I please ask you to steer clear of anything weird? I mean like, just hide somewhere and just watch from afar too see if something strange is occurring? I know this is very selfish of me but the battlefront needs me right now." She trailed off.
Wait. Isn't what she just said what I just did a while ago? How nostalgic!
After that, she summoned again her helicopter and it flew up. I waved my hands as a sign of saying goodbye and went inside.
I took heed of her words and hid under the fan coral I stayed a while ago.
I just watched and watched and watched. I just looked around the surroundings to spot any suspicious things taking place. As of the moment, nothing out of place has happened so far.
EEK! I covered my mouth. A mermaid tail suddenly appeared in front of the coral I was hiding under. I could only see the tip of the tail though because the position I was in is just directly above the marble floor of this place. I was starting to get really scared.
I knew that whoever this was was not an ally.
And I am confident that whoever this is might be the one who stole the GCD or related to the one who took it.
Whoever it was suddenly spoke, "Yeah, yeah... I already got it... I know, right? I cannot believe they let their guard down just like that!" Hmm, the voice was definitely masculine. Not only that, it seems that this person is talking to someone via a phone? Does that even exist in Ritona?
"I am quite surprised as well that no one was even here, I really expected some guards to keep watch... yes, sir... sorry sir, but I'll report to you later." I think he dropped the call or whatever communication it was.
His tail waved up and down as he swam away from here. Is it just me but is it just too real to be true that this guy actually stood in front of the coral I was positioned under. What a sheer coincidence! Or maybe... it was fate?
