"Moyashi wait up!" Kanda called out.
They had both used the Ark to transport themselves away from where the Noah HQ was to a cliff in Mater. The Ark only takes them to places Allen has been and no one from the Order has been to Mater since the innocence was retrieved from the singing doll.
Allen looked behind him, smiling brightly. "Come on Kanda! I haven't been outside since I came to the Ark." Allen led the way to a small hill, looking over the destroyed town. Kanda walked up behind him.
"I almost forgot how the sun looked," Allen stated, watching the sunset over the horizon. Beautiful hues of many colors lit the sky like fire. A small breeze blew past him, closing his eyes Allen took a deep breath, taking in the peacefulness of Mater.
Suddenly Allen felt something hit his head, hard.
Opening his eyes he noticed a small golden ball fly past him then smack into his cheek.
"Tim! Where have you been?" Allen giggled as Tim nuzzled against his cheek. Flying around his head, Timcanpy decided to nibble Allen's hair, in an attempt to cheer him up.
"Alright, calm down Tim," Allen said in between his laughter. Tim moved to nest in his hair. Moving around until he got comfortable.
"Okay, I'm sorry I forgot about you," Allen chuckled, moving his attention back to the scenery before him. The sun was nowhere to be seen, only its light barely left over the horizon as the night grew further.
"It's beautiful,"
Taking his place beside Allen, Kanda looked out at the scenery and it was indeed beautiful. Looking back at Allen, Kanda felt his lips turn up a little seeing the enjoyment Allen was having.
"Hey, Shortstack,"
"It's Allen Bakanda!" Allen rolled his eyes.
Kanda clicked his tongue, watching Allen look up at him with a pout, "I want to know something," Kanda started. "Why do you trust me so much that the Noah decided to bring me here?"
Kanda watched as Allen didn't reply to his question instantly. Turing his gaze back towards the horizon, taking in the breathtaking view.
"There was someone always with me. A presence hovering. I could feel it outside the cell I was in. A shadow hovering just outside the window." Allen started, his gaze still on the view before them. "After one horrible day where they had crossed the line on one of their experiments, there I saw two steel-colored eyes through the painful haze, your eyes, Yu."
Kanda's attention back on Allen, both locking eyes. Allen walked up, closing the last few feet that were between them, placing a hand on the other's cheek, rubbing his thumb slowly.
"I trust you because you were the only one to show me that you still cared. That you still wanted to help even if it was futile at the moment." Allen smiled.
"Thank you, Yu."
Instantly, Allen brought him into a hug, his arms around his waist, squeezing tightly. Kanda could feel the other shake against him. He could hear the soft sniffles against his shoulder. Finally, snapping out of his shock, wrapped his arms around the other. A hand made its way into his soft white shoulder-length hair and the other wrapped around his shoulder, bringing him in even closer.
"Do me one favor, Yu." Allen gently whispered against his shoulder.
"What is it?" Kanda replied, softly in Allen's hair.
"Whatever you do, don't leave me behind. Don't leave me alone! I don't like it!" Allen cried. "I hate the feeling! It has followed me all my life so promise me you'll never leave me!"
