I made my way down the stairs, and into the kitchen. I was really hungry. I didn't eat anything last night after my episode. It's not easy to get over my past experiences. They're apart of me, even if I don't want them to be. Angela has made me go to therapy, but they never helped. They tried, but they just gave me pills to help with my insomnia.
I have too many problems...
As I was rummaging through the kitchen, I realized I don't know where everything is. Obviously, the fridge holds some food, but I didn't want to make anything. I was looking for cereal, while also looking for a bowl. The kitchen had a marble counter with white walls. The kitchen had a kitchen island in the middle, which also had a marble counter. The cabinets were white and the sink was a stainless steel. The fridge was on the far side of the kitchen and it was facing the dining room, which was in the room next door.
I kept looking and hoping that I would find something. I sighed and gave up after looking through most of the cabinets. The other cabinets were way too high for me, and I didn't want to climb all the way of there. I'm only 5'9, and still growing might I add. I'm just a late bloomer. It happens. I heard muffled voices in the living room. I smiled gently and walked toward the living room. I didn't know if I should knock or just walk in? I bit my lip as I knocked on the dark wooden door. I heard a muffled "come in" before I opened the door.
I saw Maria and James sitting in the living room with some of the shades down, shielding them from the morning sun.
I awkwardly smiled before walking to the couch. They smiled as I came over.
"Got enough sleep, son?" James said. I nodded in response before sitting next to him. I felt more comfortable with him then with Maria, but she seems like a trustworthy person. Still, I'm still uncomfortable being around her. You don't know when someone is going to turn your back on you.
She didn't seem to mind because she smiled gently at me as she took her reading glasses off.
"Your father and I want to...discuss some stuff with you," she said as she looked at James. I was nervous, but before I could say anything James put a comforting hand on my back.
"Don't worry, weren't giving you away, and we're not kicking you out." It's like he could read my mind. I was still on edge, but a lot less nervous. I nodded and smiled at Maria to continue. She smiled in return before saying, "There are 3 things we need to talk to you about, the last one is the most important. So to start, we wanted to ask your opinion on school." With the mention of school, I tensed up immediately and instinctively sat up straighter. They obviously noticed. "No, no sweetheart we aren't sending you there just yet," she reassured me. I relaxed a little bit. "It's obvious that you are uncomfortable with the public schools, so your father and I wanted to ask if you would like to be homeschooled?" I didn't know what homeschooling was. I tilted my head towards my father. He smiled and understood what I was trying to ask. "Homeschooling is basically school at..home," he chuckled before continuing, "Your mother and I will teach you while some online teachers help you as well." I never knew such thing existed.
I blinked a couple of times before answering, "what would I have to do? I never did this before...." I was a little embarrassed. My education is lacking because of the bullying at my old schools. The teachers never helped me even when I was being bullied right in front of their eyes. I took a shaky breath and shook my head out of those memories. James saw my discomfort on the subject of it so he didn't really pry into what I was thinking. "Your mother was a teacher for a while, and she wanted to know you better so, she decided to be your teacher, at home. Where you are safe," he looked at me with a soft gaze as he rubbed my back gently. "You don't have to make the decision now, but we thought it just be easier on you just to be with us at home," my mom said as she also looked at me with a soft gaze.
