(Blue)

I stumbled through the fog, disoriented. Where am I? How did I get here?

Suddenly, the fog cleared to reveal a lone skeleton in front of me. He stood slightly shorter than Papy and wore a purple vest with a golden crown. He wasn't facing me, so I approached him warily.

He half turned to me, smiling gently, "Don't be afraid. Are you lost?"

I nodded, going over to him. He offered a hand, smiling at me. He had shining purple eyes. Just seeing his gentle smile calmed me down.

"Come with me," he said softly. I took his hand and he led me through the fog as if certain of where he was going.

His confidence calmed me further and by the time we came upon a small, dark house that shined with a faint silver glow as if lit by the moon, I felt completely relaxed. He motioned me into the home, following behind. It was simple and cozy. Everything was various shades of dark purple, with gold trimming and accents.

The skeleton walked over to a fireplace and fiddled with it. After a moment, blue and purple fire leaped to life and he backed away, still smiling softly at me.

"Please, sit," he said. I did so, settling down on the couch. He sat next to me, relaxing and crossing one leg over the other. His body posture was extremely open as he put one arm on the back of the couch and looked at me, cocking his head.

"Would you like something to drink?" he asked.

"Um, sure..."

He grinned and snapped his fingers. In an instant, I was holding a glass of dark red wine, as was my host. He took a sip and sighed. Not to be rude, I took a sip as well. It tasted fruity, full of deep flavors. Papy didn't like it when I drank but I had a higher tolerance than he did.

"Thank you," I said politely. He raised a browbone at me, still grinning.

"For the wine?" he asked.

"That and your kindness," I hugged myself, "I don't like being lost...I don't even know how I got here..."

"Aw, don't be afraid," he leaned over and stroked my cheek softly, "You're safe. Nothing will hurt you."

I let out a small chuckle, taking another sip of wine. Without my noticing, my host had scooted closer. He leaned into my field of view, leaning back as I looked at him.

"You never told me your name," he said gently.

I smiled at him, "You never asked."

He chuckled, his voice deep and calming, "Well, I am asking now."

"Call me Blueberry. My friends all do," I said brightly, "And your name, if I may ask?"

"My name is Nightmare," he said easily, his eyes shining. His name seemed ironic, as he wasn't very frightening or intimidating or evil, as someone might assume. He was being kind and gentle. Charming, almost.

"Well, Nightmare, do you know where we are?" I asked.

He chuckled again, his shoulders shaking slightly as he closed his eyes softly. "That, Blue, is something you must find out for yourself."

"Oh..." I hugged myself again. The house grew warmer and I relaxed, sighing contently as my arms fell from my sides. Nightmare scooted closer, now right next to me.

"Are you warm? Can I get you anything?" he asked softly. I shook my head, smiling at him.

"No, everything feels just fine. Very cozy, actually."
