When my mom said she wanted me to get a job, she wasn't kidding. I wasn't very fond of the idea at first; I enjoyed being able to hang with friends whenever I wished and sleep in until Marshall got off work. I knew she was right though, if I wasn't going to be in school I definitely needed at least a part time job to help out if not full time.

Marshall begged and begged for me to apply to Gilbert's, but I was hesitant and decided to apply to a Taco Bell not too far from our trailers. I landed an interview a few weeks ago, and they hired me on the spot. I was pretty happy, especially because the pay was decent and I was very familiar with the menu.

I still didn't have a car and wouldn't be able to get a ride every time to Gilbert's, but it was only a eight to ten minute walk to Taco Bell. Marshall was irritated about it but understood after my reasoning was clear.

He insisted I needed to get my license soon, so he had been letting me practice driving his car. It was actually quite fun, I always hated practicing with my mom because we just argued the entire time. With Marshall, it was more humorous when I fucked up and he didn't get pissy while explaining things to me. It was kinda hot.

But anyways, I was sitting in Marshall's car, DeShaun and Karnail in the back seats, sitting in the parking lot of a nearby playground. We were laughing and jesting about my upcoming shift in half an hour. I had been working everyday for four days, and today was my last shift of the week. I had only been trained in the drive-thru and actually enjoyed it when there wasn't a long line of cars that extended out of the parking lot and onto the main road.

"Yo, we gotta stop by and give her ass a hard time," Marshall turned to the guys behind us. "Ima make you cry," he said, turning to me.

"Don't you dare," I narrowed my eyes at him. "I was so close to crying the other day because this old bitch was yelling at me for not giving her six hundred mild sauces." I threw my head back and groaned. "Why did I decide to work in the food services?"

"You're telling me," Marshall scoffed.

"You said you workin drive-thru tonight?" Bugz confirmed. After I nodded, he looked to the guys and smirked. "Bet."

"What you mean bet?" Marshall almost sneered.

"What you mean, what you mean?" he rebuked. "Ain't you the one that just said we gonna stop by and mess wit her?"

Marshall clicked his tongue in annoyance. "Bro you-"

"I what?" Bugz interrupted. "Quit acting like I want your girl, yo. You been acting like a bitch to me for no fucking reason every time I say anything to her, bro."

Proof and I looked at Marshall. His eyes twitched before they widened slightly and he shifted more to Bugz. "Call me a bitch again," he threatened.

Karnail rolled his eyes. "Man it's just irritating. We used to be tight as fuck."

"Relax," I told Marshall quietly.

"Maybe if you weren't up her ass constantly we still would be," Marshall went on. "Don't play stupid." He turned back around, now looking out the windshield at some kids playing tag on the play structures. He cracked his knuckles and huffed out a breath.

I looked back at Proof, really surprised he made no attempt to calm the situation. He was known for being the peace maker, especially when it came to his friends. He shrugged at me, knowing full and well why I was confused.

After a few more seconds if silence, Bugz laughed under his breath and started opening the car door. "Pussy," he mumbled in Marshall's direction. "I'll see you at The Shelter tonight, P," he said to Proof before extending his arms to clap hands together. "See ya, Amber."
