Under the mask

Chapter 34

"I have cancer, stage 4" his mother said crying into his chest, his mouth went dry after hearing those words

"W-what?" He barely asked her, he didn't want her to repeat herself but he needed to know that he wasn't dreaming

"I have cancer" she declared, wiping her tears away.

He broke down frantically, he couldn't help it... now he felt extremely bad for just patching her when she was pretty much a walking corpse

He started to hyperventilate, he took deep breaths in and out, trying to calm his nerves down but this only made it worse

"Hey... Listen, I'm going to be fine, I love you son" she said kissing his tart stained cheek

"Mum.... not to burst your bubble but stage 4 cancer is pretty bad!" He shouted, but immediately regretted it

She looked at him sincerely

"Don't worry about me.... but I may as well be honest with you.... I won't be here for your wedding and it kills me... knowing that I won't be there" she started to cry again

This made finn cry again also

They went into the living room and just sat in silence.... this had obviously struck finn pretty bad

"Does Chloe know?" Finn asked

"Yes...." Carole replied

"Mum why didn't you tell me?" He asked her, this question lingered in his head

"I couldn't get a hold of you, after the phone call.... so" she sighed and looked at the clock

"Anyway, shouldn't you be heading off to... ugh what's her name again... don't tell me" Carole was deep in thought

"Rachel! That was it!" She laughed

This made finn laugh at her, this was the first smile he has cracked one all day

"I love you mum... I'll come over tomorrow.... can Rachel come?" He asked

"OF COURSE!!!" She immediately shouted as he bent down to hug her tightly, something he wasn't used to but automatically felt at peace

"I love you Finnegan" she laughed as she knew this annoyed the shit outta him

"Ugh I'll see you tomorrow!" He said waving, out and into his truck. He saw her shut the door and then broke down in the car

Real men cry

He turned on the engine and began to speed off and head home, to his beautiful Rachel

He got to the door and slowly opened it and walked into the hall. He heard the tv on slightly

He put his keys in the dish and walked into the living room. He sat at the end of the couch, he never said anything and this made Rachel frown

"Are you ok finn?" She asked worried

He didn't answer, he just burst out crying. She let him sob into her neck even tho she had no idea what the fuck was happening

After he had calmed down a little she asked him

"Can you tell me what's wrong baby?" She said kissing his forehead, as he was laying on her

His head was on her thighs and his eyes were all puffy from crying, his head hurt

"My Mum has cancer, stage 4" he sniffled

Her eyes shot open as he said this, her heart crushed as she saw him in so much mental pain

"Oh finn.... Listen do you think she would want you to spend your time crying?" She asked

He nodded no

"Exactly. Now. Go and spend the rest of  her time doing the things you wouldn't dream about in the walking life... make a bucket list" Rachel offered

Finn looked so depressed

"Your right..." he finally spoke

"Come on, let's get you some coffee and we can talk?" She asked kissing him sweetly

"Your amazing, you know that?" He said

"Come on" she kissed him once more before getting up and him tagging along into the kitchen

She poured him some coffee and the steam his his face, causing his headache to get worse

"Here" she placed two Advil in the palm of his hand, he smiled and threw them to the back of his throat and swallowed them, not needing water

"I feel like shit" he declared as he drank

"You look like shit aswell" Rachel said

"Aw Thanks" he huffed

"I'm only kidding, you look gorgeous, sexy, loving, sweet, amazing" She rimed off

He smiled and kissed her tenderly, she always knew how to cheer someone up, under any circumstances

This is why he loved her and he was going to get through with this, with the help of his Rachel

Sorry for not posting yesterday, I do have a life outside of writing lol, until the next chapter... love you all 💖😘❤️💗💝💕
