The Ultimate Choice

Chapter 4

(Alex POV)

The lunch bell just rang, and I'm on my way to the cafeteria to sit with Lena and them. I haven't seen Zach since first period, I'm hoping he'll join us for lunch.

"Hey Lena, hey Taylor!"

"Hey Alex!" They both say, simultaneously.

"Where's Wyatt?" I ask.

"I don't know, he should be coming, he just got out of Mr.Hughes class." Taylor answers.

"That's all the way across campus, it'll take him at least five minutes to get here." I say.

"Yeah, he said Zach is in that class with him, maybe they're together." Taylor says.

"I hope not."Lena says. I roll my eyes at her.

"What do you have against him?" I ask.

"I just don't like him." Lena remarks.

"Whatever, I don't want to argue about this!" I practically yell at her.

"Why are you taking his side, you barely even fucking know him." She yells.

"I'm not, I just don't understand why you don't like him, after all he's tried to be friends with you." I yell back.

"Guys, STOP!" Taylor yells. "Don't let Zach come between you guys friendship. if Alex wants to be friends or date Zach, WE, as his best friends need to support him." Taylor says more calmly.

"WHATEVER." Lena yells, standing up and stomping out of the cafeteria. I roll my eyes and try to figure out who got her panties up in a bunch.

Let me think....Zach. My conscience says with a duh face. Zach isn't that bad once you get to know him.

But do you know everything about him? My conscience smirks knowingly. But he's right i guess I don't know everything about Zach. I'm still trying to figure out what he's hiding. I wonder if other people notice it to.

"Miss me?" Wyatt asks, startling me.

"Of course, I always miss you." I reply sarcastically.

"Stop being a dick." Wyatt laughs.

"I'm kidding, so what's new?" I ask trying to get Zach off my mind.

"I'm partners with Zach, for our Abraham Lincoln report that's due Friday." Wyatt answers, and my conscience falls over in his chair, laughing at me. I mentally roll my eyes. EPIC FAIL. When I'm trying not to think about him he pops up again so I gonna go with it.

"Cool, speaking of Zach, do you know where he is?" I ask.

"No, but I seen him walk towards this way about ten minutes ago, he should've been here by now."

"Oh, OK." I say disappointed.

"Where's Lena?"

"Oh you know Lena, you mention one thing about Zach and she has a bitch fit, I still don't understand why she doesn't like him. So we argued and she left." I said.

"But look at it from her point of view, maybe there's something that she sees in him that she doesn't like, and she doesn't want you to get hurt." Taylor says, stepping back into the conversation.

"She's right, Zach is hiding something, and its up to you to figure it out before things get worse with Lena. She's just trying to protect you." Wyatt says.

So I wasn't the only one that noticed Zach was hiding something, but what? What could possibly be so bad that he couldn't tell me. I get that I just met him a couple of days ago but I told him he could trust me. I'll figure this out soon enough.
