Chapter 7

Alex POV:

Today has started out to be a good day until Zach showed up at the skating rink. I still can't seem to process how I feel about what happened.

*Flashback to 3hrs earlier*

"What size do you wear?" Lena asked me.

"A size 7"

"Can I get a size 3 and 7?" Lena asked the worker.

The worker hands us our sizes and we move over to a bench to put our skates on.

"Hey, isn't that Zach over there?" Wyatt asks.

"Yeah, that's him, who's the lil cutie he's with?" I questioned.

They shrugged.

I start to head in his direction when Lena grabs me.

"Where are you going?"

"To talk to Zach!"

"Why?"

"Because I like him and I want to talk to him about why he's been avoiding me, why is that so much of a problem?"

"You are so full of it, this guy has got you so wrapped around his finger without even talking to you, what do you even see in him?"

"I don't know, its just something that I can't put my finger on, its just got my attention and I'll never figure it out unless he talks to me, therefore I'm going to go talk to him!"

"You just don't see how much he doesn't deserve you!"

"Can I ask you something Lena?" Wyatt asks.

"Yeah, I guess."

"Why do you care so much about if he talks to him or dates him or any guy for that matter, every guy that comes into contact with Alex you always say "he's not good enough for you." who's good enough for Alex then in your opinion huh?"

"Ummm,...

" Exactly , at first I though that I was being stupid as to think you liked to Alex, but then I thought why would she like Alex if he's gay. Now my suspicions are confirmed and I know for a fact that you don't only like him more than a friend, you're in love with him! Now tell me that's not true."

Silence.

"Is this true, Lena?"

She doesn't reply. She looked as if she was on the verge of breaking down but she looked up and replied.

"Yes, its true, I'm in love with you, Alex."

"I'm sorry, but I'm not attracted to you or any female for that matter, I'm gay!"

"I don't believe that bullshit, I wouldn't have fallen for you if I did, I think I can change that. I know that you can see me that way. You just have to try. I..."

"Lena this is crazy, I will never be attracted to you, you are just one of my best friends, or at least you're supposed to be, you know what I don't have time for this. I'm going to talk to Zach."

"Would you still want to talk to Zach if you knew the truth about him?"

"What are you talking about?"

"Go ask him, maybe he'll tell you, but if he doesn't, I will."

I look at her In disbelief before I turn around and leave.

"Zach?"

"Alex! This is my little sister, Amy!

" Hey Amy I'm Alex, a friend of your brothers , do you mind if I talk to him really quick?"

"No, I don't mind at all." Amy says sweetly.

"Thanks Amy!" I say

"I'll be right back okay, Amy, stay where I can see you." Zach says to Amy.

We skate over to the least crowded area of the skating rink.

"What are you doing here?" Zach asks me.

"That doesn't matter right now, but why have you been avoiding me?"

"I..."

"If it has to do with your past, you shouldn't be ashamed the past is the past, bury it."

"That's the thing, I can't bury it. Its haunted me everywhere I go, and even here!"

"What do you mean?"

"Lena threatened me that if continued to talk to you, she would tell you what I've done, but frankly this wasn't..."

" Wait, Lena's the reason you've been avoiding me? Wow, this day just keeps getting better and better. "

"I'm sorry, I didn't know what to do."

"What could have possibly been this bad that you couldn't tell me, better yet get blackmailed for. What is it?"

"I can't tell you right now, or at least not here. It has to be private because every time I talk about it, I lose it."

"This is unbelievable." I storm off to Lena.

"Are you serious?" I slap her.

"What did I do now?" She asked.

"As if you don't know, I thought we were best friends, I thought you supported me, I thought you would always be there for me. But I guess I was wrong."

"Alex, what happened?" Wyatt asks.

"Lena's the reason that Zach has been avoiding me. He said that its about something that happened in his past. She blackmailed him into not talking to me or she would tell me."

"Lena, why would you do that? Why would you deliberately try to keep these two apart. Are you really that selfish?" Wyatt asks

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean for it to go this far. You deserve to know the truth, I just didn't want you to get hurt. Did he tell you what happened?"

"No, he hasn't but he said he will, but that's beside the point, you manipulated me. You hurt me, and I don't know if I can forgive you for this. I'm going home. I'm done with this for now!"

I march out the skating ring and get in my car and drive home.

*Flashback ends*

Now I'm sitting here, thinking to myself. Most people would have cried about a friend betraying you, but I haven't, at least not yet anyway.

My cell phone rings, and I pick it up. Its Zach

"Hello?"

"I'm ready to talk, meet me at the park in 15 minutes!"

"I'll be there."
