Humans and monsters are very different.
Of course, one does magic and the other does not, one is mostly physical and the other is mostly magic, and one comes in a standard shape while the other's species can vary greatly in appearance.
But that's where the normal differences stop.
Humans evolved from pursuit predators, monsters came from a people who ate magic food. Humans were skills hunters, monsters just used magic. Because of this, instincts and strengths evolved very differently.
Firstly, (Y/N) is very impatient compared to her monster friends. Impatient is a word that most humans would use to describe themselves, because they all are. They grew up hunting, making tools to make life easier, trying hard to evolve and thus have an easier time surviving. Being patient isn't something humans could afford to do. Though, they can be patient, but their instincts tell them not to. So while plenty of monsters can sit around and do nothing, (Y/N) always needs to be doing something. Watching MTTV, playing on her phone, helping Gaster, hanging out with sans or Alphys, or training with Undyne and Papyrus. Humans weren't made to be patient. So conversations about the impatient of humans were quite shocking to the monsters.
"So you're telling me that humans went to the moon before you even had the computers to do the basic math?" sans asked incredulously, I just shrugged, "What were we suppose to do? Wait around?" "Th-That would be the most logical thing to do." Alphys pointed out and I chuckled, "That's like waiting around for a broken bone to heal." "Humans walk around on broken bones?!" Papyrus' eyes were wide, I nodded. "Well yea. Even when they're in the first stages of healing." Undyne just grinned, "That's fucking metal."
Secondly, fire. Humans evolved using fire as a tool and a weapon. Humans trust fire. Monsters didn't evolve like that, they see fire as something destructive. They didn't need it to cook food, or keep warm, it wasn't useful to them. So they only see it as a danger. Even King Asgore himself had to spend years training and learning to control his fire magic because it's so dangerous and destructive to monsters. But not to humans. Humans will burn everything. Humans gather around small fires and socialize instead of panicking to put it out, they use it to clear land for hunting and farming, to punish criminals, for celebrations, some humans even die because they run out of stuff to set on fire and freeze to death. Because of their different views and instincts on fire, (Y/N) setting one got everyone in a panic.
I stood by the barrel on burning wood, warming my hands, by everyone else was standing far away. "Come on, it'll help you keep warm." I insisted, we were just hanging out in sans and Papyrus' backyard when I decided to light a fire cause it got cold. "How are you so comfortable around fire?" Toriel questioned. I chuckled, "We use fire for everything. Cooking, warmth, weapons, rockets, fireworks!" "You wave fire around as a weapon?" Undyne laughed, I shook my head. "No. We use them in guns and bombs." Without fire, neither would exist. "You use fire to work rockets? What do you do? Just shoot people into space like maniacs?" Gaster said, he seemed rhetorical, like there was no way we went about space travel in that manner. "Yea. We just kinda get a fire going in the engine and it shoots the rocket into space." They seemed very shocked. Gaster almost looked offended.
Thirdly, they're extremely difficult to kill. They can go weeks without food, days without water, they pierce holes and inject ink into themselves for fun, they'll walk for days in broken bones to get to safety, they'll cut off limbs if they're trapped, they take hours to bleed out, they can hold their breath up to ten minutes or longer if they train themselves, and the environments they can survive in are extreme. The only sure way to kill a human is decapitation.
