Fear: Judge A Book

They say not to judge a book by it's cover. But honestly that's some bullshit. If you pick a book up, before you gonna read it, you gonna look at the title, the cover art, read the back. You ain't gonna just decide to read it without looking at the cover and the cover having at least a little influence. So I'm really not mad when I said everyone judged me based on how I looked in the beginning. Thinking that because I seemed adorable, I must not be harmless. But they soon realized they were wrong.

Gaster published a paper on humans based off of questions he's asked me, conversations he's overheard me in, and observations.

It was all about how humans were predators, how we hunt, survive, and the "crazy" things we do. Like piercing holes and injecting ourselves with ink for fun. People read this and realized what I had realized. That humans are so much more dangerous than previously expected. But one paragraph, the one that made us all the more deadly, took me by surprise.

It was all about pack-bonding. Humans need to have friends and companions. We crave social interaction. So we'll bond with anything. Even things outside of our species. That's how we domesticated dogs. We became their friends instead of their prey. Though, according to the article, it's how I became friends with everyone. By bonding with everyone, I've supposedly gained their trust which makes my human traits all the more deadly. Because I'm friends with people and they trust me, I could whip out my survival tactics anytime and kill everyone. Of course, the small scientific community within the monsters read the article, and began sending it to their friends, and they sent it to their friends, and so on. His paper on humans went viral.

I made my way to his office, "Seriously?!" I asked and he glanced up at me. "What do you mean?" "The paper you wrote. You intentionally made me look scary." "No, I just made you realize how scary you really are." "Complements aren't gonna get you anywhere." He furrowed his eyebrows, "How is calling you scary a complement?!" I chuckled some and shrugged, "I take it as a compliment." I then shook my head, "Anyways, you've made everyone scared of me! Even Papyrus gets nervous around me. sans always stands between me and Papyrus, Mettaton has mentioned upgrading his human hunting features, Alphys stutters twice as bad, Undyne won't train with me anymore, Asgore doesn't have tea with me as often, and Toriel doesn't invite me over for pie as much. You've ruined all my friendships." He blinked a few times, "Oh. My apologies. I didn't realize you had so deeply bonded with everyone." I sighed, "Don't worry about it. There isn't much that can be done now. Everyone's seen the article. Taking it down would only raise suspicion that I forced you to. Then people would trust me even less."

I sighed softly and Gaster frowned. "No. I must be able to make this right." He said, sounding oddly determined. "I'm certain I can find a way to make your terrifying species seem adorable." I raised an eyebrow. "I'm starting to think I'd rather be feared." Gaster chuckled, "Oh come on, there has to be something cute and cuddly about your species as a whole rather than just you." "What?" Did he just call me cute? And cuddly? "I said there must be something about your species as a whole, that is cute and cuddly rather than just qualities about you that fit that description."

Surprisingly, we did find some things.

How helpless humans are to sneezes. If a human feels a sneeze coming on they'll usually stop everything their doing in order to sneeze. Not to mention the agitation of feeling a sneeze and then it not happening.

Another thing is how human assume they're injured and instinctively say "ow" when they hit an object, just in case they're actually hurt. We learned this when I ran into a table and immediacy said "ow", only to realize I was completely fine and felt no pain at all.
