'When are you going to listen, it's Kira's birthday, not Ethan's next!' Lydia says for what has to be the fifth time in the past half an hour.

'Then why have you got him soap? He's a werewolf, he's never going to be that clean.' Stiles jokes, and Lydia sends him a flat look. 'What, you asked my opinion.'

'Actually, I didn't. You interrupted me wrapping the present.' Lydia replies, shrugging.

Stiles makes a face. 'We're at school, Lydia! And soap is a girly present.'

Lydia stops because she's completely wrapped the present now, and starts digging around it her bag.

'Soap is not a girly present.' Lydia says, defending herself. 'Ethan likes soap.'

'Everyone likes soap, doesn't mean it isn't girly thing to buy someone and oh my god please tell me that isn't ribbon, Lydia.' Stiles exclaims, shaking his head and pushing up the sleeves of his plaid shirt.

He look particulary nice today, Lydia notices, even if he is dressed how he normally is. Pale blue t-shirt, darker, faded blue shirt, jeans, and worn out grey sneakers. His hair is still drying obviously from a quick shower before school, and his cheeks are flushed. It's adorable.

Lydia presses her lips together to stop from smiling. 'It's not ribbon.'

'It's freaking ribbon, isn't it?'

'No...'

Stiles rolls his eyes. 'Hey, Scott, would you appreciate if I bought you soap and ribbon for your birthday?' He yells as his best friend walks past.

Scott grins, face lighting up. 'What soap?'

'Oh my god,' Stiles says, pressing his hand to his forehead. 'Don't worry, Scott.'

By this time Lydia has burst out laughing, and Stiles rolls his eyes, but has a grin on his face.

'Oh god, I do love you, Stiles.' Lydia says between chuckles, and it's only when Stiles freezes does she realise what she said.

'What did you say?' Stiles asks, eyes wide, a blush creeping up his neck.

'Nothing.' Lydia says quickly, but when she catches Stiles' eye, she knows he heard.

'Ok.' Stiles says, and starts to walk away.

She stays sat down, playing with the bits of ribbon now tied to Ethan's present. It's times like now she misses Aiden, because she should be wrapping two presents, not one. But she misses Aiden in a different way to how she missed Stiles when she thought he was gone.

'Wait, Stiles!' Lydia says, pushing the present into her bag quickly and running after him.
