Third person POV
Akashi was making his way to the roof to get some time to himself and also play some shogi. He opened the door to the roof which was normally locked but today it wasn't.
Somehow there are a lot of strange things happening these days...
<Flash Back>
he checked the notice board for the test we did some time ago, he noticed that second place was no longer Midorima, and now is replaced by 'Kanade Sumire'. When he noticed that she was only half a point away from him, his mind started to wonder.
For some reason, however he tried to think, he just couldn't remember what this person looked like. He gave a tiny sigh and left.
<end of flashback>
He pushed open the door leading to the roof of Teiko Middle school. As the door creaked open, the sudden light made Akashi squint his eyes. His eyes quickly adjust to the new lighting and he took a step forward. The first thing he saw was a girl with black long hair that stops just after her knees. The sudden gust of wind made her hair flow freely in the wind as she sways along ever so slightly.
He was mesmarised at the beautiful scene unfold in front of his very eyes. Akashi's ever so emotionless face changed into a surprised one for a split second before returning. It was only then that he had realised that the girl had been standing on the outside of the protection fences. He called out immediately.
" Excuse me, can I please ask you to come back over to this side? Its really dangerous and as the student council president, I have full responsibility of your safety."
"...."
She stayed silent. Akashi had a weird feeling. He could not see through her even after trying to use his emperor eye. 'Why was that?' He wondered. The next thing he knew, the girl was jumping over the 5 meter fence with ease. After grabbing onto the railings and pulling herself up to the top, she jumped down while doing a front flip, landing safely on her feet with a small 'tap'.
Now they were standing face to face, or more like face to chest. Now looking at her she was really short. Akashi estimated that she was only around 1.43m tall. He then proceeded to introduce himself.
"Good day, my name is Akashi Seijuro and I am the student council president and Teiko basketball team's captain. First year."
"Kanade Sumire. First year."
He stared at into her turquoise eyes that glistened in the sun. It was as is he was looking at an ocean through her eyes. Then the silence was broken by her gentle voice.
"Is that a shogi board?"
Akashi was slightly taken aback by her sudden question. She didn't really seem like the type to start a conversation. But he answered anyways.
"It is, why?"
"Do you mind if we play it together? If your just waiting for your friend to come then never mind."
A smirk made its way to his lips. He wanted to test how good she was for getting second on the test. He was too curious to reject this request.
"Sure. Why not? Shall I remind you that I have not lost even 1 round against anyone."
They sat down together in the shade and started the battle. Akashi let Kanade take the first move, being the gentle man that he is.
Each thought carefully about their moves and both took their time. Akashi was surprised that she could stand her ground for so long against him of all people.
As time passed on, the two of them were having a lot of fun. Suddenly, someone pushed open the door to the roof. This broke their concentration, and at the same time, they turned their heads towards the door to see who it was.
They soon found out that the one who interrupted them was none other that Midorima Shintaro. He looked around before noticing them sitting in the shade.
At first, he looked quite surprised that Akashi was actually playing shogi with someone he didn't recognise, meaning Akashi most likely doesn't know her either.
Moreover, its a girl. Midorima slowly strides towards the two people. After standing next to Akashi he started to say something.
"We should go soon. Practice is going to start."
"Ok, I got it. But first, introductions."
Akashi said gesturing to the girl sitting opposite to him.
"Midorima Shintaro, Vice President of student council and basketball team. First year"
Kanade replied with the same introduction as the one that was given to Akashi.
"Kanade Sumire. First year."
"Okay, now, Midorima, go down first and I will go after finishing this round."
"I'll Just wait for you until your done. We still have some time after all."
Midorima said this expecting this to end very soon, but to his surprise, Kanade was actually on par with Akashi and the game just went on. In the end, It ended up as a draw and anyone could see that Midorima was quite taken aback. He returned to normal when Akashi started speaking.
"That was a good game. It was the first time I met someone who is on par with me."
"Good game."
'Akashi let's go"
"Wait, Sumire, do you want to come watch our basketball practice?"
Kanade was slightly surprised when she was called by her first name, but she didn't let any of this show on her face.
"Why?"
"I saw how high you could jump just now. And by looking at you, I'm guessing that you've played basketball before?"
"...I have.."
"Well then, I would like to scout you to be in our team."
"....."
"I won't force you, but for now just come watch."
"...ok"
The three of them made their way to the gym where all the first-strings trained.
