Akashi's POV

Before going on court, Sumire had warned me to not do anything rash because normally, the second quarter is where Ooshita middle school starts being jerks and stands in places where others are most likely going to foul them without even noticing. I had told tried to tell the team this, but was cut of when the referee blew the whistle.

And just as Sumire had predicted, the opposing team now normally did screens and casually left their marks and ran towards others who had the ball. Half way through the second quarter, Aomine already had four fouls.

I looked towards the benches and my eyes caught turquoise ones. Sumire gave me a little nod before walking over towards the referees. I also went over and told them that we were switching out one of their members.

Aomine didn't want to but after receiving a death glare from me, he reluctantly went to sit down. Sumire then looked up at me and I rubbed her cheek. I honestly didn't want to make her play, but now that Aomine is off and we can't let Kuroko on because we need better offense, the only choice is her. I've always seen her as kind of a secret weapon. She is the only one I would admit defeat to. The farthest I've gone is 80% of her true power.

I sigh inwardly. I'm going to have to rely on her again. I just hope nothing happens to her. After all she means more than the universe to me. If anyone dares to touch her, I will not hesitate to end their life. Even if those people are my family.

I snap out of my thoughts as I felt a small hand on top of mine and a sweet and gentle voice call out the nickname that I will only allow her to call.

"...Sei-nii? are you ok?"-Sumire

"Yeah. I'm fine."-Sumire

"You don't have to worry about me..."-Sumire

"Yeah."-Akashi

"Come on... we have to go"-Sumire

I nodded as she lightly tugged at the seam of my shirt. I slip my jacket off of her and toss it onto the bench. I pulled her hand slightly and she turned around. I put my other hand behind her head and gave her a warm kiss to her forehead and cliped up her bangs.

"Be careful out there. I'll assist you."-Akashi

"I understand..."-Sumire

She took my hand that was resting on the back of her head and placed a kiss on my knuckles. She always does that when I'm feeling hesitant or anxious. It makes me feel like she'll always be there for me. It also gives me confidence. I gave her a quick smile and we walked onto the court together.

Third person POV

The captain from Ooshita Middle school, Ishikawa, scoffed when he saw Sumire enter the court. He hesitates a bit at Akashi's glare but still continue.

"Seriously? A weak girl? First you've got a guy who keeps fouling and doesn't know the rules and now a girl? How is she even here?"-Ishikawa

"Shut up"-Akashi

"What? She can't speak? hah! Don't go crying to your mommy and daddy when we beat the crap out of you!"-Ishikawa

"How impolite. Thats not how you should speak to a lady upon first encountering."-Midorima

Midorima couldn't stand it any longer. He was burning on the inside but decided to stay calm. Sumire had a emotionless look on her face. she stared at Ishikawa with a blank look the honestly scared him. But he still didn't back down.

"Ah?!"-Ishikawa

Midorima and Akashi was gonna say something more but was stopped when Sumire tugged their shirts and mumbled a 'It's fine'. Akashi got what she meant so he turned back to the team.

"Let's show them what we've got."-Akashi

"Ous!!"-Teiko team

The game restarted and the ball was in the other teams possession. one bounce. two bounce. and on the third bounce, the ball was slapped away and landed directly in Akashi's hands and he scored a layup. They looked around and saw nothing out of the ordinary. How did it happen? They shook off the strange and uneasy felling and focused on the game.

The rest of the game went by in a blur It was mainly just the opposing team looking around confused while the ball magically landed in each members hands or that the ball just suddenly dunked and flew itself into the basket. In the last five minutes, the Ooshita team was so desperate that they just randomly stuck out their legs and arms in hope to hit someone.

It was then that Ishikawa felt as if he kicked something really hard, but when he looked over, there was nothing there. He thought it was just his imagination and soon the match ended with 207-29 in favour to Teiko basketball team.

Both teams lined up and bowed. They shook hands and made sure to grip really hard when it came to Sumire because they had realized that it was because of her that they got wrecked.

Ishikawa also 'accidentally' slip when he was shaking hands with Sumire, resulting Ishikawa to flip aound and fall on Sumire and causing her hand to twist the other way for a few seconds.

Akashi immediately kicked Ishikawa off of Sumire and he could see she was trembling slightly in pain. A guy more then two times her weight falling on top of her was enough to knock the breath out of her.

Akashi growled at Ishikawa when he stood up with a smirk on his face. Akashi's first reaction was to throw a pair of scissors at him. He was more concerned about Sumire at that moment so he just settled with a stab to his shoulder.

Sumire soon stood up and walked to the benches. It was easy to fool others but she couldn't fool Akashi. He noticed how she limped and put more weight on her right foot. Akashi went over and sat down next to Sumire. He took his bottle and drank some before holding the bottle up to Sumire's lips as she couldn't really hold anything.

Sumire drank out of it as Akashi slightly tilted the bottle. After she was done, Akashi wrapped the girl's sweaty form in his jacket and carried her in his arms bridal style. He had made sure that her left ankle and right wrist felt comfortable before started walking out.

Sumire could still feel the intense pain so she just curled up and snuggled closer to Akashi's chest. Before leaving, he turned to Midorima who came to ask how the Sumire. The team (Not including Akashi) was surprised to see Midorima with a genuinely worried look on his face.

"Is she okay?"-Midorima

"She'll be fine." -Akashi

Sumire shifted slightly and called out to Midorima. He stepped closer to her. It's true she has trust issues but she feels that Midorima was someone who deserved her trust.

"I'm okay. Thanks Shin-nii"-Sumire

Sumire spoke in a soft voice. She sounded and looked like she was completely drained. She held out her left hand and Midorima placed his underneath hers. She gave his hand a small reassuring squeeze before pulling back.

Midorima seemed relieved and sighed. To him, she was like a little sister who he felt he had to protect. Akashi was fine with the interaction between the two because he knew for sure that these two simply feel like siblings to one another. Its normal to feel protective. He was also relieved to know that someone who wont get in the way of their relationship will always be there for Sumire when he could't.

"Shintarou, me and Sumire will not be attending lessons today because of medical reasons. Can you help me tell the teacher?"-Akashi

"Okay. Be safe and call me when you're done."-Midorima

"Sure. Well then we'll be going."-Akashi
