Misfortunes to Fortunes (Akashi x OC)

Chapter 14

Sumire's POV

After resting for around a week or so, my fever has gone down a lot. My temperature was still slightly high, but I was allowed to go to school.

So on Monday, me and Sei-nii once again went to school together. I got up and limped towards the bathroom. Due to my ankle, I couldn't really put pressure on that leg.

I quickly washed my face and brushed my teeth and then proceeded to change into my uniform. By the time I was ready, Sei-nii had also finished his morning routine and had come to escort me to breakfast.

It was really troublesome due to the stairs, but Sei-nii helped by giving me a piggy-back ride to the dining room.

He set me down on the chair and then walked over to his own. We remained silent but it was a good kind of silence.

We soon headed out and got into the car. I leaned my head on Sei-nii's shoulder before slightly dozing off. I was soon awoken by him kissing my forehead.

We got off the car and Sei-nii carried me to the classroom. I feel like I've grown so much taller on his back. The view from here is totally different from normally.

Class begins and I must say, it was very boring. I fell asleep for most of the time. Sometimes I don't understand how people even sit thorough lessons like this.

Third Person POV

The rest of the day went by in a blink of an eye, and now, it was time for basketball training. Akashi made sure that Sumire was sitting comfortably before heading off to change.

While she was waiting for Akashi, Midorima arrived and walked up to her.

"Here. Your lucky item for today is an umbrella."-Midorima

"...thanks"-Sumire

"N-no problem"-Midorima

Midorima was truly not yet used to this kind of caring for another person. He only wishes the best for Sumire. He gave her a slight smile before rubbing her head and started practicing.

Akashi soon came out and came out to see Sumire in her cat form laying on top of his towel. He sighed and walked over. Sitting down next to the black cat, he stroked her between the ears and she purred.

"Tired?"-Akashi

"Nyaa~"-Sumire

"Okay then. I guess it's fine. I'll tell the coach that you were feeling unwell so you went home first."-Akashi

The cat nodded slightly before laying back down to enjoy the soft towel. Midorima came back to grab his bottle but instead saw the ball of black fur on the bench.

"...is it Kanade?"-Midorima

"...nya~~"-Sumire

Midorima had seen her ears and tail before and they were black, so he assumed that the cat was Sumire. Akashi came back and told Midorima to just say that it was his cat if anyone asked.

Soon enough, the generation of miracles started coming in one by one. All of them crowded around Sumire and played around with her. Of course, one sidedly. She was just lying down and doing nothing.

When Kise tried to pick her up, Akashi stepped in and told them to leave. He knew that even in her cat form, her injuries would still hurt. It was just that she healed faster in her cat form.

When he sat down next to her, he placed a hand under her head so she could nuzzle into it. Akashi was looking through the members list of the people they were up against in inter-high while Sumire was just licking and softly biting on his thumb.

After five minutes, everyone had gotten ready and had started practicing. They started off with a warm up and then moving on to a three on three mini game.

Everyone was sweating and panting by the end of the game, so they took a ten minute break. Akashi walked back to the bench and gently lifted Sumire up, making sure not to irritate her injured areas.

He then sat down and placed her on his lap. He took the towel that she was laying on and wiped off the sweat from the game. He also drank some water before pouring some out onto his palm so that Sumire could drink some as well.

Everyone had been interested and decided to watch the cat. They watched as the cat drank the water and the yawned.

"Who's cat is that?"-Aomine

"She's mine."-Akashi

"I never knew you had a pet cat, Akashi-cchi!"-Kise

"That's because I never told you"-Akashi

Akashi deadpans. Everyone sweat-drops at the blunt answer as Kise was crying crocodile tears. The rest of the practice went smoothly and so, it was time to go home.

After packing his things, Akashi walked over to where Sumire lay. He scooped her up carefully and cuddled her soft body against his chest.

He leaned down and kissed her black fluffy fur. Midorima came over and pat her head before excusing himself. The rest of the group were heading to the convenient store nearby so they said goodbye to Akashi.

He nodded in response before getting into the limousine. They headed home and got ready for a meeting that his father was too busy to attend to.  Akashi originally didn't want Sumire to keep working in her condition, but then realized that no one else was capable enough to do her line of work.

He had settled a chair next to his own in the meeting room for Sumire. People seemed to have been giving them strange and judgmental looks but no one said anything. They were all the scared of the young heir.

The meeting went on longer than they expected and by the time it ended, it was already around 8. They went to the dining room to get something to eat before going to their respective rooms to shower and change for the night.

Sumire walked back to her room with Akashi. He left when they got there and told her that he will be picking her up in a bit. Akashi was truly protective when it came to her. He was afraid that she would toss and turn in her sleep that could make her injury worse so then came to the conclusion that they should just sleep in the same room for now.

Even before getting injured, Sumire would often sneak into Akashi's room at night when she couldn't sleep or had a nightmare. When she first came, she had those nightmares about her past almost every time she closed her eyes. But after a few months, Akashi noticed that they had been decreasing in frequency.

Sumire has also realized this and concluded that it was because she was with Akashi.
