Chapter one

(Four days before Rick gets shot)

8:31 am/May 16/2010

Rick watched anxiously waiting for the nurse to come back with his baby girl, he looked over at Lori who gave him an exhausted smile.
          "What should we name her?" Rick asked sitting down next to his wife, he wrapped his arm around her.
          "Carl told me he had a name" Lori said looking up slightly at Rick.
          "He likes the name Samantha, Sam or Sammy for short" Rick smiled at his wife, he nodded.
          "I like it too"

12:34 pm/August 22nd/2010

          "Look at this one Samantha" Carl held up a blue truck above his baby sister so she could see it. Sam's eyes followed the blue truck as Carl waved it around above her.
Sammy reached up and swiped at the toy trying to grab it.

          "You want this one?" Carl asked, Samantha made a sort of babbling noise, she reached for the truck again.
          "This is my favourite one but you can have it" Carl wiped the toy truck on his shirt, once the truck was somewhat clean before giving it to Sam.

Carl reached around his sister and grabbed another toy truck.
          "I'll just use this one" Sammy spotted the red truck that Carl grabbed.
She dropped the blue truck on the ground and reached up for the red one, Carl sighed.

          "Okay, you take this one" Samantha grabbed the red truck and held it tightly. Carl replaced the slight annoyed look on his face with a huge smile.
          "Are you two getting along?" Lori asked as she approached her children. Carl nodded, Lori felt her heart practically melt at the sight.

          "Mom... what's that noise?" Carl asked as a faint beeping noise could heard throughout the camp. Lori shrugged her shoulders, she leaned down and picked up Sam holding her daughter close.
          "Shane? What's happening?" Lori asked as she approached him, Carl hid slightly behind his mother covering his ears from the loud beeping noise that was quickly approaching the camp.

          "I'm not sure, keep the kids close" Lori grabbed Carl and pulled him closer to her. Sammy whined at the beeping noise.
          "Shh it's okay" Lori placed her hands over Samantha's little ears. Shane grabbed his shotgun and walked over to the entrance of the camp, Lori and her children right behind him.

A red car pulled up to the camp and Glenn stepped out with a huge smile plastered on his face. Shane rolled his eyes, he leaned his shotgun against the car.
          "Turn this damn thing off" Dale shouted over the beeping.

Shane opened up the hood and snipped a wire with his knife immediately turning off the alarm.
          "What the hell were thinking driving this thing all the way up here? What if walkers heard it" Glenn sighed, the smile wiped off of his face.
          "New guys idea" Shane snapped his head towards Glenn, he walked over to him getting up in his face.

          "What new guy?" A white van pulled up right behind the red car. Andrea stepped out first. Amy sighed in relief at the sight of her sister. Jackie and T-dog got out next, they stood near where Amy and Andrea were. Morales got out and immediately ran over to his family greeting them.

          "What happened out there?" Dale asked noticing how rough and exhausted everyone looked. Morales pointed over to the truck.
          "New guy" Shane scoffed at the mention of this new guy again. The truck door opened and out stepped a man dressed in a sheriffs uniform.
