We're Innocent

Riley POV:

My parent just told me that Lucas got shot last night and was in the hospital. They wanted us to go after school but he's my boyfriend so I'm heading over as soon as I get ready for the day. I text Farkle to meet me there and he agrees in 2 seconds. As I walk into the room, I find Lucas and Maya sleeping together. It's fine I mean Maya doesn't even like him like that anymore. They're cuddling but it's ok. They're just friends and friends hug sometimes. Besides, Lucas chose me over Maya.

Riley- "Lucas! I'm glad you're ok! Oh and good morning to you to Maya." They both notice that they're together and Maya shoots up.

Maya- "Hey Riles! It's not what it looks like I swear,"

Lucas- "We're innocent!"

Riley- "Don't worry, I assumed that. You said that you don't like Lucas anymore, and he chose me over you so there's nothing that would be going on." I see Maya shoot Lucas a glance, but he just looks at his hands. Hm.

Mrs. Friar- "Well hello Riley." She said with no emotion. I like to think that everyone likes me, but she doesn't seem to. "Maya! You slept over? How sweet of you!"

Maya- "Morning Jane! Yeah I wanted to be here early so that we could discuss how long your putting him in the shed for." Jane? Mrs. Friar started laughing.

Mrs. Friar- "Of course. Come over anytime to look at it, then tell me what you think is appropriate. Especially since he dragged you out here yesterday without your heels." Wow! She really seems to like Maya. And what are they talking about? Was Maya here all night?

Lucas- "How much did you hear?"

Mrs. Friar- "Enough to know that Maya has the mouth of a sailor." Maya looked at her feet and Lucas laughed a bit. "It's alright honey. I still think your very pretty!"

Maya- "Thanks Mama Huckleberry!" The three of them started laughing and I felt a bit left out but it's ok. "So Riles, school. What's the plan?"

Riley- "We can come see Lucas after school everyday and on most weekends and since he's going to be here for quite awhile, he'll need the schoolwork. I was thinking-"

Mrs. Friar- "I'm sure Maya can bring it to him and help explain what's he's missed." Me and Lucas laugh while Maya looks confused.

Riley- "Um Peaches doesn't really do homework, or pay attention in class, or get good grades in school." Why does she like Maya so much? I'm the obvious choice to help Lucas after school and I'm his girlfriend.

Maya- "I hate to let you down Jane but Riley's right." Oh, Jane is her first name. So her and Maya are on a first name bases. I've been coming over to their house for a year now and she met Maya yesterday.

Mrs. Friar- "I know you're much smarter than you let on sweetie." How would she know anything about Maya? "Lucas has told me how smart you really are. I also think that he'll help motivate you to do your work." Lucas talks to his mom about Maya?

Maya- "Apparently Riles!"  Oh I said that out loud.

Mrs. Friar- "All the time. The Blonde Beauty who's broken but still helps fix others. The shortstack of pancakes who is a great artist and always makes her friends feel better. The-"

Lucas- "Ok mom! Thank you for telling everyone in the hospital, including my girlfriend." She looks over at me and smiles.

Mrs. Friar- "Oh Riley! Your still here?"

Maya- "Come on Riles, let's go! See you after school Ranger Rick! I'll be over for chili tonight Jane!" Chili night? I never got invited to that. Actually, I did one time but the invitation was revoked by Mrs. Friar once Lucas told her. "What's wrong Riley?"

Riley- "I've been trying to get Mrs. Friar to like me for over a year now. You two just met and she loves you. It's not fair!"

Maya- "Woah! I'm sure it doesn't mean anything. Lucas is a total momma's boy and she's probably just protective." She's right that's probably it.

Mrs. Friar POV:

I've never thought any girl was good enough for Lucas. Sure one of them's sweet and all but she doesn't like 'Texas Lucas' or whatever they've been calling him, and it's a part of who he is. He didn't talk about the other on as often but when he did, Jesus! It sounded like the boy was in love. She kind of reminds me of myself when I was younger. I still wasn't for Lucas dating either of them until I heard them arguing last night. Not only are the nicknames adorable, but she loves him even if he doesn't love her back, yet. As soon as I met her, I knew I liked her. Besides, how could I not? She ran out of bed at 2 am on a school night because he was hurt. She's perfect for him. Maya's perfect.

Lucas- "Why mommy?"

Mrs. Friar- "Why what? Chili night? It's not that big of a deal, besides I'm sure she'll bring you leftovers tomorrow."

Lucas- "Why are you so impolite to Riley? And why did you start going on about Maya? Now that I think about it, why were you so nice to Maya?"

Mrs. Friar- "I like Maya. She's pretty, funny, and obviously really cares about you."

Lucas- "I like her too, but Riley's my girlfriend, and Maya's best friend"

Mrs. Friar- "Why are you dating Ramona anyways when you could have Maya?" He rolled his eyes at me. "Excuse me? Do you have something you would like to say to me?"

Lucas- "No Momma. I'm sorry."

Mrs. Friar- "Damn right you-"

Maya- "Sorry to interrupt I forgot my jacket. Listen to your mamma Sundance!" With that she left to go to school in her pajamas. She's officially my favorite.

Mrs. Friar- "How can you not love that?"
