Chapter 14: The Dreaded Day

It's the begining of June, school will be out for the summer soon. Harry has to go back to the Dursley's for a little while then is welcome to come back to Grimmauld place for the rest of the summer til school starts up again. Sirius is getting more and more restless by the day, he is getting tired of being couped up. Who can blame him, he says it's like being in Azkaban again, but with no dementors and better food.
I wanted Sirius to see the out doors again, at least once before the inevitable happens. So I bewitched the drawing room to look like a big open meadow on a beautiful spring afternoon. I put together a lunch and made it a picnic. Me and Sirius ate and laughed for hours, maybe days, time felt like it didn't exist, it was just the three of us, including the baby.
On June 18th is when it happened. It started out just like any other day, the kids were going to be home soon, we were all excited for it and getting ready. I felt a sudden urge to go back to Hogwarts, even though the school year was almost over I felt like something was calling me. Went to see Severus first because I knew he'd give it to me straight, no sugar coating. Apparently, a lot of children had formed a group to learn to defend themselves, led of course by Harry, Hermione, and Ron.
Late in the afternoon Umbridge requested Severus' presence in her office immediately, so I follow him. In her office Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Neville, and Luna were restrained by Draco and some other Slytherins, and Harry is sitting in a chair with Umbridge's wand pointed right at him.
"Severus, I need some more veritaserum, now!"
"You used up the last of my store interrogating students."
As we turn to leave Harry shouts, "He's got Padfoot, he's got Padfoot at the place where it's hidden!"
"Padfoot? What is Padfoot? Where what is hidden? Whats he talking about Snape?"
"No idea."
When well out of ear shot I turn to Severus, "What are we doing? She's going to torture them, you know she is. We can't just let her!"
"Listen to me Jessica, if we go back in there we are both dead! That's that, we'll be of no use to them or anyone else. We need to contact the order right away or did you not hear Harry when he said he's got Padfoot, you know, your husband!"
"Sirius!"
When we get back to Severus' office we contact Grimmauld place right away, thankfully Sirius is still home safe and sound. Unfortunately, as we head back upstairs we see Umbridge being led by Harry, Ron, and Hermione to the Forbidden Forest. There was only one thing left we could do, wait.
