Seventeen's POV
I looked at the beautiful sight of the sea outside my window from my room.
Blood Ravens and The Cross were disqualified yesterday. Seven more gangs to defeat, 6 more days to go. Cameron was a good fighter I suppose, striking the person at a fast pace when he least expected it. Moving at a fast speed.
There was one thing that had been bothering me though.
Why did Ethan smile at me yesterday? It reminded me of when we were children and used t-
Wait, why am I thinking about those times? They didn't matter to me anymore... or did they?
My thoughts had been in a jumble since yesterday and nothing has been helping it. I have saw many types of looks on a lot of people's faces when they saw me kill, maim or fight but I have not once saw someone smile a true genuine smile at me.
Not once
Nick was with a blank look, Ace with amusement but never a smile. Cameron and Alex looked at me with unreadable expressions.
Ethan was just... different, I Guess.
I put my face in my hand and groaned.
All of them changes since I last saw them, Ethan had this vibe he never had before, warning others not to mess with him, Cameron, anybody could see his cheerfulness was faked, as for Alex, he seemed a little older and mature.
Ohh who am I kidding, all of them had matured.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. Thinking it was Nick who had came to deliver my breakfast I stupidly opened it.
It had a Cameron who was grinning like crazy holding a tray of food in his hands. I scowled before slamming the door shut but he stuck his leg in before it closed.
He then slipped into the room before I could kick him out.
"What the hell are you doing here?!" I growled trying to summon up the hatred and anger I had to him and the rest of his so-called brothers.
Surprisingly, there was none. All the bottled up anger, pent up hatred just disappeared as if it had never been there. However, that did not keep me from giving him a death glare.
He just grinned wider if that was even possible.
"I need a chance." He said as if that made perfect sense. I didn't say anything, just waited for him to continue, "I want to explain what had really happened to you."
"I know what had happened very clearly." I stated defiantly, all he did was raise an eyebrow.
"Do you really?" He asked, "You hate us not because of what we did right? It's because you don't want to experience betrayal again, because it had been drilled into your head that one day, someone you trust will betray you. Every. Single. Time"
My breathe hitched in my throat and I forced out two words.
"Get out."
"What I said was right wasn't it?" He said all traces of playfulness and mischief gone, replaced by seriousness that was unusual to see in his eyes.
"Get out." I said pointing at the door, "and you're wrong." He raised an eyebrow at that, "I trust Nick and Ace."
"Why not us then, why not give me a chance to explain?" He asked quietly, that almost made me give him a chance.
Almost.
"Get out." I said again in a firmer tone. He just sighed before giving me a sad smile.
