The bell went and ally practically jumped off the chair, she couldn't wait to go home and finish the last pages of the fault in our stars. She had been intrigued by the book ever since the first page and it had even inspired her to start writing her own book, obviously it wasn't as good or as dramatic but it told the story of her and when she read it over, her life for once seemed to make the slightest bit of sense.
"Listen babe, we can sort this out" Kelsey, also known as the head cheerleader grabbed onto Ashton's arm as Ally walked through the crowded hall.
"No fuck you" he shook her off and paced out the school, Ally could've sworn he was crying so in a moment of pure stupidity She went after him, making sure nobody saw her.
She followed him until they got to a field, Ally would've left sooner but she had no clue where She was.
He sat down and brought his knees up to his face, She felt bad for the kid. She'd never saw him cry, it was odd for him.
"Ashton?" Ally called out and he looked up, his cheek soaked and eyes red.
"Oh it's you" he rolled his eyes and she instantly regretted following him.
"Are you okay?" She slowly stepped closer to him.
"You might as well know everyone else fucking does. Kelsey cheated on me with cameron. can you believe that?!"
"Nope" She laughed and then stopped, did I really just say that out loud? She thought
"What?"
"I mean she's like that isn't she, always shagging everything that moves" She shrugged and sat next to him, Ally didn't really care what Ashton thought anymore, if he didn't like her it's not like it would affect her popularity.
"I know but it's just embarrassing because it makes me look bad."
"Is that all you care about? your image?"
"I would understand if I loved her but I didn't, I can't love anyone. Not with everyone's expectations of me"
Ally was confused, what did he mean everyone's expectations? she wanted to ask him but he began to cry again so instead she did what she never did, she hugged him.
He looked up, there faces inches apart making ally feel uncomfortable.
"Have you ever loved anyone?" Ashton asked, she was threw off by this question and took a minute to process it.
"Yeah but he didn't know I existed" she laughed
"A celebrity?"
"No, I'm not that pathetic. He was in most of my classes, he never talked to me though. I used to just sit there and watch him walk past me like I was nothing, it got me down" She looked up her eyes glistening
"He sounds like a douche" Ashton shook his head, not getting the hint.
"If only you knew" She laughed
"Do you still like him?"
"No"
"Why not?"
"I got over him eventually, I guess it wasn't love at all. just a crush really." She looked at Ashton who was looking back at her, for a minute she panicked he would make a move on her, he was known for it. instead he got up from the muddy and partially wet grass and stuck out his hand, she grabbed it and he pulled her off the ground.
"Where'd you live?" Ashton asked and ally looked at her phone, it was 6, she was so late.
"Shit!" she exclaimed, panicked at how her parents were going to react, she'd never been late. not once. Droplets of rain began to fall making it hard for her to see into the distance, it was heavier then usual and the thunder wasn't helping.
"Come on! come back to mine, I'll get you a taxi!" Ashton shouted over the thunder.
"I need to be home! I'll walk!" ally went to turn and leave but Ashton grabbed her hand and began to run with her, hand in hand.
"Tell your mum you were doing homework!" he suggested and she smiled as the rain got worse, splashing all over her already soaked jeans.
after a good ten minutes of the pair running they came to a small complex of flats, once they had got into Ashton's apartment he fetched her a hair dryer and one of his tshirts, leaving her in his room to get ready.
It felt weird, she'd only ever talked to Ashton today and she'd ended up back at his flat. she almost felt uncomfortable with how today panned out.
After she had took her makeup off and dried her hair she pulled Ashton's T-shirt over her head, it was baggy on her since she was quite small next to him.
"Are you done?" Ashton knocked on the door and ally called out that she was done and asked wether he had called the taxi. he didn't answer, instead he walked in.
"The weathers worsened, cars aren't allowed on the road. your going to have to crash here tonight." he told her
"Are you fucking kidding me!" she put her head in her hands, her mum was going to kill her.
"Text your mum, explain. she won't mind" Ashton smiled and ally looked up, she was pissed off she wouldn't be home and what would she wear too school tomorrow, she wouldn't be able to wear Ashton's clothes people would realise and then they'd ask about it, to her thats unwanted attention.
"You don't fucking get it do you? it looks dodgy enough me being here! if people at school find out!" she was almost in tears, she shouldn't of followed him. he would've been fine on his own.
"Stop stressing, I'll dry your clothes for tomorrow and give you a lift but I'll drop you at the end of the road so nobody sees okay?"
Ally nodded, grateful for Ashton's thoughtfulness.
"Thank you" she smiled a little and he shrugged.
"Thanks for coming after me"
"Yeah, wasn't my best idea" ally sighed but Ashton was secretly happy he'd got ally around, not because he was a player but because she cheered him up and somehow made him smile even though he didn't want too. he couldn't believe he hadn't known her before this, that was his fault. So many times had he wanted to spark up a convosation with her but his friends clouded his judgment, Ashton couldn't understand why she was so unpopular, it's not like she was ugly because she wasn't. in fact she was more pretty then any of his 'girlfriends'. Maybe it was her shyness.
"I'll take the sofa" He finally talked and ally stood up.
"No it's okay, I got it" she grabbed a pillow and made her way out of the bedroom, he let her stay with her the least she could do was take the sofa and let him have his own bed.
"goodnight Ashton!" she shouted, her voice echoing through the apartment.
"Night" he spoke back, both of them lying away thinking of only one thing.
Each other.
