(≤Cassidy's POV≥) It was the sixth day of school, Mason hasn't been here for three days. I hope he's okay. I wonder what he did with my jacket; surely I will talk to him about stealing my stuff when he gets back.
All of this made me wonder, why me? He was nice and all, but, he was different. I still sit at the same bench near the oak tree everyday, and see that his tears haven't dried up yet. I've realized now, maybe, I am starting to like him back.
"Cassidy? Wake up!" Said my math teacher, Mrs. Evans.
"Oh!-Sorry Mrs, I-I was just..-" I said, trying to think of an excuse. I wasn't going to blurt out I was thinking about Mason in front of everyone.
"Get back to work!" She said, with her loud voice.
"I-I'm sorry." I said, looking around. Everyone was staring at me, most giggling.
After science I dragged my tired legs back to my locker. without warning, I felt a hand on my back shove me into the lockers and turn me around by the collar of my shirt.
"You punk, you think you can get away?" Said a voice I've never heard before.
"W-what did I do?" I said, scared out of my mind, and blood dripping down my nose and onto my lips.
"I know whats been going on with you and Mason." Said the sinister voice.
"No you don't!" I yelled back. My face turned bright red.
"Oh yes you do, and guess what? I told everyone in the school. Everyone knows about your little relationship now!" He said, letting me go and pushing me aside.
They all laughed at me and walked away. I was about ready to run out of the building, and I did so. I only ran to the bench under the oak tree, assuming if I went anywhere else I'd have a serious talk with the principal.
"Dang, I've been here for about thirty minutes. But I really don't want to go back. English is my 6th period, so if I can just sit here for another 20 minutes I'll be okay-" I felt a hand slowly rest upon my shoulder. I quickly turned around, startled, only to see-wait, Mason?
"Mason?.. Is that you?" I said, tearing up.
"Yes. I'm so very sorry I have been gone." He replied
I got up and hugged him, crying.
"Why are you crying?" said Mason, confused.
"People are starting to bully us. They know we like each other.-Oh wait I haven't told you-" I didn't realize I didn't tell him I liked him.
Mason didn't say a thing. There was a bit of an awkward silence and then he put his hand against the side of my face and said "It'll be okay."
The tears rolled down my cheeks and Mason slowly wiped them off.
I was happy, but also nervous. this all seems a bit strange, he's never done this before. Also, how'd he get here and, why now? There were so many questions going through my head.
"How-how'd you get here-when?-why? Why now?" I said, confused.
"Don't worry about that now." Said Mason, in a voice softer than usual.
The awkwardness continued, I was sitting on this bench, with tears running down my face, and Mason standing in front of me. If anyone saw us, we'd immediately get made fun of. Neither of us would make it through the school being together without getting beat up.
Mason sat down next to me, putting his arm around me. I was so lonely and scared, I can't live being made fun of my whole time at this school.
(≤Mason's POV≥) "Its been a couple of days, I've basically been ditching until now. I felt so sad leaving Cassidy that I decided It would most likely be fine if I just showed up at the school and signed myself in." I thought to myself
I could tell Cassidy was scared. I didn't know what else to do for him other than comfort him.
"Are you gonna be okay?" I said, worried.
"N-*sniff*-No." Said Cassidy.
"Do you think we might as well go home? you can come home with me." I said, in hopes that would make him feel a bit better.
"Yes.." he said, as he rested his head on my shoulder.
