Atemu's POV

I wake up next to my beautiful angelic Yugi. He looks so cute when he's sleeping. I check to make sure that he is indeed sleeping before pressing my lips to his forehead. I quickly pull away when he stirs a bit. I hear Yugi whimper and see him tear up a bit.

".....ngh.....Yami....why? I....loved you." My heart clenches with jealousy. I then see Yugi start to cry. That bastard's betrayal must have really hurt him. My poor Yugi...

"It's okay, Yugi. It's me, Atemu. I'm here now. You don't have to worry. I'm different from him. I'll protect you from now on." I tell his sleeping form.

Yugi visibly relaxes, shifts closer to me and wraps his arms around my waist. I blush a little bit. I want to stay like this a bit longer, but I have this nagging feeling that I'm forgetting about something. Or someone. I think harder, but still can't remember. Suddenly, my cousin Seto bursts into the room, startling the little angel next to me and making him bury his face closer to my body. He locks eyes with me and looks at Yugi's position.

He smirks. "I'm not interrupting something, am I, cousin?

My face inflames. "You were." I say as I glare at him intensely. "What did you come here for anyway?"

"Well, one, to annoy you." I give him a cold stare which he returns. "And two, to remind you that Princess Teana and her twin from the Kingdom of the East are coming to visit. I was so sure you forgot, so I came here two hours before they would arrive so that you would be prepared. Thank me later, cousin."

My face instantly drains of all pleasant color. I have no time to notice Seto's sarcasm. Shit. Princess Teana will be here? Why? Is it because she wants to propose to me again?

"It's as you might have expected, cousin. She wants to propose to you again."

My mind starts to quickly  think of places where I can hide and the excuses I can make to avoid her. The only consolation I have is that her twin Téa is my friend and can help me avoid her twin. True, Téa did have a crush on me a few years ago, but I broke it to her that I was not interested.

You see, Teana and Téa are my childhood friends. They both developed a crush on me as we got to know each other. When Téa confessed and I rejected her, she accepted it and we were still friends, but when I rejected Teana, she blew up and would not accept it. So, I broke it off with her. Though mad, she still said that she loved me with all her heart. I still hated her, though. I'm not being cold-hearted. She wasn't a good person. She always treated the servants like slaves and mistreated the common people by speaking to them in a demeaning manner. The only reason she liked me was for my looks, power, and wealth. She didn't love me.

"Hmm?....*yawn*....Atemu? What's all the noise in the morning?" Yugi said as he cutely rubbed his eyes.

"O-Oh, it's nothing." I look away.

"Atemu."

"What?" I could practically feel Yugi's gaze burning into my back.

"Don't lie."

"I'm not lying."

"You are."

"How would you know?" I ask, testing him.

Yugi thinks for a minute. "You and I are a lot more similar than you would think."

"Is that so?"

"Yes, so spill. What's bothering you?" I look at him with a reluctant look. "Atemu, we're friends. And friends help each other out. Or do you not consider me your friend?" He asks the last question with a look I couldn't resist. His already wide eyes became wider as if they were about to tear up and his voice became softer and more angelic. How could I resist such an innocent Yugi? The answer is simple: I couldn't. So I told him everything. While Yugi and I were conversing, we forgot that a certain priest was still in the room. Unbeknownst to me, he was thinking along the lines of: I could use this to blackmail and tease him later. How fun this is going to be. For me, at least. Seto then quietly left the room as I finished telling my story.
