A month passed by so quickly. Both Sarah and Gerald continued communicating with each other. One morning, Sarah woke up because of noise outside her room. She immediately knew who’s causing it; she stood up and fixed herself before going down. “Mommy! Daddy!” she excitedly exclaimed. She was running towards them and hugged them. “I missed you!” she said. Sarah’s dad kissed her forehead and her mom hugged her back. “Kung anu-anong ginawa mo nung wala kami ha!” her mom told her smiling.
“Sino yung lalaking nababalitaan namin? Invite mo mamaya para mapasalamatan din namin. Isama mo na din si Sam dahil matagal nang nangungulit yun. Tawag ng tawag habang andun kami sa Paris.” Her father said to her.
Sarah looked puzzled “Si Sam dad? Isasama ko? Wag na!” she really didn’t want to invite him.
Her mom looked at her questioningly “Akala ko ba, ok na kayo?” she asked
“Sige na nga mommy. Sama ko na din si Ate Anna, tapos invite niyo din friends niyo para get together. Sayang, busy sila Shin.” She wanted her friends to come too, but she knows that they are busy. Sarah took her phone from her room and texted Sam, inviting him to have dinner with her family. Sam instantly agreed.
She then called Gerald informing him of the dinner later, Gerald was hesitant. He didn’t know how to act in occasions like that, but Sarah assured him that she will be there beside him and it’s not a very formal event. “It’s just dinner Gege.” She told him. Knowing that he’ll see her again, he’ll take all the chances he gets, he agreed.
Gerald arrived from work and decided to take a shower before attending Sarah’s invitation. He was staring at two of his best shirts, unsure of what he was to wear. His mom went inside his room and laughed when he saw him “Ge, kanina ka pa jan. Masyado ka namang kabado.” His mom teased him. Gerald who was only wearing his pants scratched his head “First time kong ipapakilala sa parents ma. Paano kung hindi nila ako gusto?” he asked his mom. Though he has dated a lot of girls before, he never really wanted to meet their parents; it was his way of saying that it’s not really a serious relationship.
His mom tapped his shoulder “Nililigawan mo na ba? You’ll be introduced as a friend diba? Don’t worry too much. Just be yourself.” She told him and left.
“Friend? We’ve been exchanging sweet texts, calling each other for a month now. Friend pa rin ako? Tsss.” He whispered to himself. He finally chose a shirt to wear and informed Sarah that his on his way. “I hope this turns out well.” He said and left his home.
