Mistakes

Yugi's POV

It's hard being ignored by the ones who swore to always be there for you. To watch the ones you care about believe a lying bitch over you. My name is Yugi Moto, and I have been living with my friends, Ryo Bakura and his yami Akefia Tomb, Marik Ishtar and his yami Malik Ikatsu, Seto Kaiba, Mokuba Kaiba, Yami and Atem Sennen and my adopted sister, Cheza Pendragon in Seto's mansion since my grandpa died shortly after the ceremonial duel. Seto invited all of us to live in his mansion (since Ryo lives on his own, Marik and Malik wanted 2 stay in Domino while Ishizu stayed in Egypt, and Joey's dad is an abusive drunk). We all have our own rooms, and there's STILL about 20 guest bedrooms!!! Plus a game room, Duel Monsters stadium, indoor pool and bar, a music studio (I know, shocked me too), and a mini movie theater. We were happy, because it allowed us Hikaris to figure out what it was we were feeling for the Yamis. We discovered later that what we were feeling, was love! Seto loved Joey, Ryo loved Akefia, Marik loved Malik, Cheza loved Yami, and I loved Atem. We had a plan to tell them, but it was never the right time.

After I won the Ceremonial Duel, Cheza appeared with the Egyptian Gods, Osiris, Anubis, Isis, and Ra. Anubis stated that Cheza convinced them that Yami and a few others should have a choice on whether or not to "stay on the mortal plane." Yami said that he wanted to stay, so Yami's brother, Atem, Bakura, Malik, and Yami all got their own bodies, AND we kept the mind link. However, I now have a mind link with Atem, Cheza now has one with Yami, and the yamis and hikaris all have mind links with others like them. It took a while for Joey, and Seto to get used to their mind links, but they managed to master it in a week (Cheza was already used to having people in her head due to her ability to read minds). Seto got Yami, Akefia, and Marik the necessary paperwork in order for them to live in this era without any problems. They started going to school with us and it was nice to see their faces as they experienced it for themselves. We hung out and laughed and thought that everything would be fine... But we were wrong.

Tea never liked Cheza, in fact she hated my sister's very existence. So, without our knowledge, Tea spread lies and rumors about Cheza around the school 2 months after the Ceremonial Duel. When the rumors reached the Yamis, they didn't give Cheza a chance to defend herself! They just told us that because of what they heard, we had 2 choices: never associate with Cheza again, or they wouldn't associate with us. We chose to stay with Cheza, since there was no proof that she did anything wrong. Since then, the Yamis have refused to acknowledge our existences unless they have to.

Since the Yamis and Tea made it clear to everyone that they no longer cared about us, the bullies targeted us Hikaris. All of us (except Seto since he is a CEO, and Cheza because they were scared of her) were cut, stabbed, and raped almost on a daily basis. I'm honestly surprised that the Yamis never noticed the state were in, considering the fact that we all live under the same roof. But they didn't, and we stopped hoping for them to care about us again.

That's how it was, but a month after the Yamis started ignoring us, the bullying has almost stopped altogether for us. All we get is verbal bullying (like Seto)!!!! But, we noticed something else: as the bullying on us decreased, Cheza was coming home sporting cuts, bruises, and slashes on her body. Worried, we asked her about her injuries and she said that she made a deal with Ushio (since all the bullies listened to him): Leave the rest of us Hikaris alone, and the bullies can do what they want to her without her fighting back at all... no matter what they did. They agreed, but we weren't happy about it. We begged her to fight back against them, but she said, "I can handle what they do to me more than you guys can. Besides, I swore to protect you, and as long as you guys are safe, I'm content." But even I know that Cheza will reach her breaking point, and we aren't far from it either... We used to smile and be happy and optimistic all the time, but now, we cut ourselves so we have some sort of control of the pain we feel, and we have been getting weaker without our Yamis... Our lights are slowly dying, and no one is there to stop it from going out... We know that Cheza does her best (since she is technically part yami) but even she knows that we need OUR yamis but that's not gonna happen as long as they're being, as she calls it, "ignorant idiots".
