I ran out the door and headed toward the screams. Fletcher and Selena were nowhere to be seen.
"Fletcher! Selena!" I was calling out.
"In here!" Fletcher and Selena yelled back.
I went into a room that I hadn't noticed the first time. Probably because I was in such a rush to get inside.
Zombies were pouring into the building.
"Get Deagen and Jordan! We have to get out of here," Fletcher said as he pushed Selena and I back into the previous room.
"Deagen! Jordan! Wake the fuck up, you idiots!" I yelled in their ears.
Deagen fell out of the bed and was instantly wide awake. He knew what was up. Jordan, on the other hand, was half-asleep. I took out his butterfly knife from his pocket. I threw it so it would just breeze his face. Now he was awake.
"Time to go, guys," I told them.
"Zoms?" They both asked me the same question at the same time.
"Zoms," I confirmed for them.
"Where's everyone else?" Jordan asked me.
"Running. Running for their lives. Now let's go!" I yelled at them.
We ran out the door and were instantly met with a face full of zombies. One of them scratched the surface of my arm while trying to grab me. I pushed myself away from it and pulled out my katana.
"Wrong city, zoms," I muttered as my face turned from a straight line to a smirk.
I chopped at least fifteen zoms down until Deagen and Jordan came over to help out. Fletcher and Selena ran ahead to safety. We were going to try to meet in the first building across the river.
"I think it's time to go, Flake!" Deagen and Jordan were yelling at me.
"Alright," I replied to them.
We turned around to run, but we were surrounded. There was no way we were going to be able to make it back to the building either.
This is the end, isn't it, Alex? I asked my brother's spirit.
"No," I heard a whisper in the air.
A shadowy figure dropped from the roof of a building. The figure had a Japanese sword that looked extremely silver and sharp. It took the shadow less than five seconds to cut down all of the zombies around us. Every zombies' head were just rolling on the ground. Then, the shadow climbed up into a building nearby and ran away.
"What just happened?" I was extremely curious about this person.
"That guy just saved our butts, now let's go!" Jordan yelled towards me.
We ran across the bridge; huffing and puffing all the way. All of us got out of the street as fast as possible.
"In here," Deagen told us as he brought us to a huge building. It was called, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The zombies were still on our trail, but it'd be a little bit until they'd be able to catch up to us.
"'Bout time," Fletcher said as we walked in.
"We almost died out there," I stated in our defense.
"Then why didn't you?" Fletcher asked me.
"Some dude wearing all black clothing and a mask saved us and ran off. Killed about thirty zombies in less than five seconds."
"Wait. But that's impossible," Fletcher said.
"Apparently not. He had a rare, silver Japanese sword. It looked like it was forged by Masamune," I replied to his statement.
"That's crazy! And he just ran off without saying anything?"
"Yep," I didn't want to mention that I heard something in the wind when I asked if my life was over in my mind. It'd make me sound crazy.
"No one is that fast," Fletcher couldn't believe what he was hearing.
Selena came out from around the corner.
"Actually, there have been many tales made about the man that you just described. People say that his speed is outmatched. Nobody messes with him. Everybody in Trenton says that he's one of the legendary Constellation Survivors. Supposedly he can control magma and lava," she said to us.
"Control magma and lava?" All of us asked her.
"Yep," she replied.
"Woah. That's--," I was cut off by a sound of a flare being shot up in the air. "What was that?"
"No idea. Let's go check it out," Fletcher said.
"Alright," I looked over at Jordan, Deagen, and Selena. "You guys stay here. Let's go, Fletch."
Fletcher nodded. We jogged out the door and looked up at the sky. The flare had to be at least a mile away. Must be other survivors from Boston.
"They must need help. Let's go give them what they need," I said.
We ran towards where the flare was shot from. All there was around there was one building. Fletcher and I looked at each other. He gave me the nod for, "you first." I nodded back.
I grabbed my katana, the metal rubbing up against its sheath as I pulled it out. I opened up the door and walked into the building. Fletcher followed close behind with his pistol in hand. It was so dark inside that it felt like we were inside a deep void.
The lights flickered on and off. This place was incredibly creepy.
"Hello?" I called out to see if anyone was in here. No response. All I could hear were just echoes of my voice reflecting off the walls.
The lights flickered again. It was really weird how it kept doing that. Besides, the power shouldn't have been able to reach all the way out here from where the walls were.
"In here!" I heard a girl yell.
"We're coming," I called back and followed the voice of her's. Her voice sounded really familiar. I don't know how though.
Opening up the door, I saw a girl with beautiful brown hair and sparkly greenish-blue eyes just lying there with a flare gun in her hand. She opened her mouth to say something.
"Flake?"
