If you asked me, whatever it takes, didn't seem to take much. I wasn't saying Louis didn't care enough for our relationship to give up things, nor complaining that he didn't like me that much. I just thought things for us would be a tad easier. In a way it was, it was fine, actually very fine. Just different as to how I imagined it would work out, but we were both okay with that. We had to risk a few things, but there weren't much worries since it meant too much for us.
"Jade, what the fück is this I hear about you and Louis breaking up?" Brooks' loud accusatory voice surprised me from behind, making me turn around abruptly.
"Excuse me?" I hadn't seen him in three days, every time I had a chance to look for him, he was MIA. The last time I saw Natalia was the day she gave me some advice, and I hadn't told her what kind of sodding tosser she was with, not until I talked it out with Luke and made him feel like the lowest piece of shít.
"What about you, Luke?" My voice spat out such poisonous venom, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "You're not one to talk a load of poo."
"Poo?" His eyes squinted as he shifted on his legs. "What are you on about?"
I had to leave. As much as I wanted to give him hell times twenty seven and make him wish he was skinned alive before he could ever cheat on Natalia, I had to get away from Luke now. He could be my pal, but I wasn't sure he was able to keep his mouth shut anymore. But this conversation would continue, trust me on that.
"I don't wanna talk to you right now. Go away."
"What did I do?" his shoulders slumped in what seemed like innocent defence. Innocent my arse. My head sharply turned back to him once more but I kept my rant to myself.
"I need to go buy tampons, you don't wanna come," I shrugged before hurrying away from him. I turned the corner and was about to take my phone out before I bumped into a figure, causing me to yelp.
"Relax, baby," Louis chuckled as his arms found their way to mine and rubbed in an up and down motion. "It's just me," he offered me a smile.
"No, you-"
"You sneaky little shits." Luke appeared from behind the corner and leaned against the wall, one of his legs over the other as he grinned. "I heard your fight the other day was quite convincing."
I rolled my eyes at my friend. About two days ago I was with Tony and a few other guys from our gang when Louis happened to stroll along. We pretended to fight as he begged for forgiveness and I stomped on his apologies before turning and not looking back.
"Idiots. Ya can't believe everything you hear," rolling my eyes at the Australian in front of me, I poked his chest, extra hard. "But you can't tell anyone. Ya havta swear you'll keep that gross saliva-swapping trap shut, even with Danny, especially Danny. Don't even test me, because you still've got some explaining to do, douchebag."
Luke's bushy eyebrows raised at my rapid fire words that shot at him, before blinking in ignorance. "What?"
Louis shared his look of confusion as his brows furrowed, looking like a cute little bunny, his hair very much grown out. That was the thing about Louis, he could act all tough and fearless and rebellious and more, but I saw how much of an adorable little ball of sunshine he actually was. I was grateful Louis shared that part of him to me, when his guard was down and he was simply Louis.
"I saw you slobberin' up that little miss bimbo the other day. You know, Luke, I never thought you'd be mean enough to cheat on Natalia."
"What are you- what the fuçk?!" He yelled.
"Maybe you were just playing her all along, which would be low. Danny's your best mate! How could you do that to him!? He's gonna kill you!"
"Jade, I have no idea what-"
"I don't know if she'll wanna wait before she moves on but, I might set her up with Cal, he's her favourite. Or maybe even with Luke, she does like Luke's. You would know that." I spat at him before he could continue. I was not in the mood to listen to his pity little lies.
"C'mon, babe," I grabbed Louis' hand and tugged him the way he came from. "Let's go some place else."
As we walked away I could hear Luke cursing very loudly, and Louis bumped his hip into mine. "Doll face, what if he had something ta say?"
I shook my head, not buying it. "If I wanted a load of shít I'd be babysitting a six month baby and changing nappies."
He shrugged before continuing. "Maybe it'd be best if you talk to him once more, and this time listen to whatever shít comes out of his mouth, before you talk to Natalia."
"Since when do you give advice, eh?"
"Only for you, baby," he winked.
We continued on our stroll to a gas station, where Louis bought a pack of smokes and I requested gum. The cashier handed us a little black bag with our things and we walked out, ready to go to his home. I stopped talking in the middle of my sentence when a couple caught my eye. Louis turned his head in the same direction as I did, where Brooks and the same skank from a few days ago were talking. They seemed to be arguing. I, however, felt no compassion at all.
"Look at him! He's telling her they've been caught! Ugh," I groaned. "I'm fuçking furious."
"Maybe we should turn this way?"
"Serves you right!" I shouted at Brooks, as the red head pushed him away when he tried to grab to embrace her. They both turned around, and while they both looked in irritation and disbelief, I noticed him wearing an olive green jacket.
"Shit," I breathed, my breath of air showing in the ice cold temperature. Luke had been wearing a navy blue jacket today. Actually observing his face this time, I realised that this wasn't Luke. But it did look like him am awful lot.
"I, um- I just really hate guys who act like dicks."
"Jade!" Louis and I turned towards the sound of the roaring voice. "Imma need you to explain what the fück is the shít you're talking about."
"Oh, hey Luke," I smiled sheepishly before biting my lip. A warmth enveloped my hand as Louis intertwined our fingers together, giving me a squeeze.
"Just the devil I was lookin' for," an Australian male voice was heard from across the street. The three of us twisted our necks to ogle the one I'd confused with Luke leaving the red head behind as he walked toward us. I saw Luke's eyes swell three times their normal size.
"I bet you," Louis' voice whispered in my ear after he bent his head down a little, "a half hour massage that they're twins. Whadya say, cupcake?"
Should have seen it coming.
After Luke regained himself from momentary shock, he whipped his head to me. "Is this why you thought..."
Holding my free hand in the air and shrugging, I spoke. "Whoops."
"Been looking for you everywhere, man," Luke's brother smirked, standing a few feet away from us.
"Well I've been here," Luke barked. "What about you, where have you been?"
"Eh," his brother seemed more at ease than Luke. "here, there, England, Italy." I could feel Louis tense at the mention of the country so I stood on my tiptoes, nudging my head on his shoulder, giving him a small smile. He caught my eye, lifting the corner of his lips to match mine.
"Okay, so why are you here? This is just a shitty town."
"Thanks," I piped up, earning the other twin to look at me.
"I'm Jai," he smiled a toothy grin at me and nodded at Louis.
"Don't talk to them, and answer me: why the fuçk are you here?" Luke stepped a bit closer to his brother.
"Whoa, whoa," Jai threw his hands up in defence. "Big brother, you have to learn how to relax." When he saw no improvement in Luke's hard exterior he spoke again. "I came to pay you a visit since I haven't seen you in 3 years. I'd like to have a chat."
