"Nancy please Valentine's Day is in 4 days!" Mike shouts at his sister Nancy standing in the doorway of her bedroom while she's barely listening flipping through a magazine .

"Ugh fine but you owe me!" Meet me in the car in 5.

"Thank you thank you I'll be down in a sec!" Mike rushes to his bedroom and grabs his sweater along with his money that he's been saving ever since his 8th birthday. he's been saving for a big science fair out of town for years but El's valentine was more important to him.

Once they arrive at the mall mike walks past all of the windows of the stores when a shiny piece of jewelry catches his eye. It's perfect.

- Valentines Day -
El was in her bedroom getting ready for her night with Mike he had explained to her what Valentine's Day meant and who you spend it with and he had asked her to go out with him for the night.

El was wearing a light baby pink dress, it tightened her waist and had flowed at the bottom. She then wore some high top converse along with a pink bow to hold her hair back . She was about done getting ready, until she took one last look in the mirror and applied some lip gloss for a finishing touch. "Pretty" she mumbled to herself. She was then interrupted by her thoughts when she heard a familiar voice outside of her room.

"I mean it kid no funny business and have her home by 9 sharp!" "Hop don't scare him!" El looks over at Mike with big eyes and his jaw in the floor. "Am.. I pretty?"

"You look amazing el more than pretty." El looks down at her feet and blushes. Mike and El walk out of the cabin towards a park near Hawkins Middle.

Further into the park is a gazebo it is lit up with golden fairy lights. A blanket just for them two and they are surrounded by a field of roses. El stands there in awe admiring everything that Mike had done for her. "Mike this is perfect." El says with a tear rolling down her eye in happiness. "Anything for you." Mike says while grabbing her hand dragging her onto the blanket.

The two eat their meals which of course was eggos but mike had had cut them into little hearts with a cookie cutter. After they eat their meal they talk for a bit once it's pitch black outside Mike hands El a little red velvet box. El opens it slowly and starts to cry a little.

"Mike oh my gosh it's beautiful thank you" el gives mike a peck on the cheek. El flips over the back of the gold heart locket and engraved on the back it says "Mike and El forever and always since 1983" inside was a picture of her and mike it was the same picture from their sleepover about a month ago.

"Do you want me to put it on you" mike questions el staring at her admiring the jewelry. El nods and mike takes the necklace and puts it over her neck and connects the ends together. The two walk back to the cabin hand in hand. That night was a night to remember.
