I frowned, continuing to slash through the zherti.
"Elizabeth, behind you!" yelled Pamela, kicking one away from creeping up on me. I turned around and brought my sword upon it, reducing it to orange flames and electric dust.
"Thanks!" I yelled back, then turned back to where they were coming from, rushing forward and keeping them off.
I soon realized, however, that Mr White's focus was not entirely on the zherti hurtling towards us. I glanced in the direction he was looking, and to my surprise, there was someone dashing and flipping on the rooftops.
I drove the sword through a zherti's center, then squinted up at the person. I turned my head to the side; it was Zachary. He was carrying through with his plan.
"How'd you get up there?!" his father bellowed, punching at two of the monsters. I slashed straight through them and five others.
Pamela groaned, kicking at some more of the zherti, "Ugh, he's always jumping up on things!"
He did look quite safe up there, though. The zherti didn't seem to be able to reach him.
"Origami," I asked the golden butterfly, "do you think there's any way we might be able to get up there as well?"
Origami fluttered around for a bit, perhaps in thought, then responded, still using my sister's voice, "There is a staircase on one of the taller buildings, but beware; the zherti have greatly damaged it." She flew towards a block of apartments, and Zachary leapt up to her. He waved down to the rest of us.
"Pamela," I told the blonde girl, who had just taken down three of the zherti in one strike, "What if we were to climb to the roofs as well?"
She screamed and kicked away another monster, "It would be helpful," she admitted, "and you would have some time," she pushed away some more of them, " to heal, but I'm afraid we don't all have the speed and agility, Aaaagghh!" She screamed out in pain, punching one in the face, "of my cousin!"
"I can teach you! I'll help!" Zachary cried frantically, flailing his arms.
"Let's go then!" yelled his father, taking Pamela by the hand and pulling her towards the staircase. I followed them, keeping away the zherti, and eventually we made it to the top.
I pressed the sword to their wounds, as well as my own. Origami flew towards us, panicking.
"Those zherti are smart," she cried, "They're learning about the stairs! Quickly!"
Indeed, a huge crowd of them were deviating from the rest and coming after our blood. I screamed, and Zachary whimpered.
"Well, Zachary?!" Pamela urged, "show us about these roofs already!!"
Zachary tried to calm himself, "Uh, right, well, first thing you got to do is get a running start."
We all backed up.
"And uh," he sounded really nervous.
"They're coming!" Origami warned.
"Hurry up, doofus!" Pamela told her cousin.
"Then you jump as far as you can, and uh, ayum, try not to fall!" He cried.
"Oh, real simple!" Pamela scoffed.
"We don't have much time!" the man warned, "It's now or never!"
We all started running.
"Jump!" came a shout. I couldn't clearly hear who it was.
But we jumped.
AN ~ Sorry I took so long! This chapter is a little boring, granted, but the next one should be coming soon!
