We ran off, slicing and punching at the zherti, headed straight for our final destination - the core. I yelled angrily as the monsters burst into orange flames with the touch of my sword. They had caused the death of my friend, and perhaps even my sister whose voice she shared, but I would not let them do any further damage.

As we came closer, we realized we would have to go through the oily, black dome. The zherti seemed to have a fine time passing through, but I wondered if we would be able to.

"Are we gonna have to go through that force-field?" Zachary asked, leaping away as two of the monsters reached for him. They banged into each other, falling into a heap on the broken sidewalk.

"I think so," I responded, slashing through a few of them with a struggle, "I just wish Origami was with us so she could tell me what to do."

"We should be fine," Mr White encouraged punching out one of the zherti, "I think I remember going through that thing, but it was pretty hard. You might want to," he took down another, "Hold up that sword thing of yours just in case." He grunted as he picked a smaller zherti up and threw it across the abandoned road.

"Let's do it then," I decided, picking up my pace and jumping, plunging my sword into another one of the monsters.

At last, we reached the dome. It was absolutely disgusting - the zombies were spitting out from every direction in great numbers. Their translucent skin sparked as their scattered hairs sparked with electricity. Some of them had great clumps of the hair on their backs, which I thought was weird but decided to ignore when I saw a couple drooling some black ooze.

I pushed them away as they clawed at me, and one ripped my sleeve and left a gaping blood hole in my arm. I gripped the wound, not being able to heal myself with the onslaught of zherti continuously attacking us. Pamela just barely escaped the grasp of a few of the taller ones, and Zachary was nearly dragged away before she managed to free him. Luckily, he remained human.

The only one of us who seemed to be getting along with little struggle was Mr White. He punched and slapped the monsters to and fro like it was nobody's business. He was a large adult, however, so obviously he would have been more capable than us. We crowded behind him and managed to get right up to the sickly dome.

"Everybody duck!" I yelled, holding up my sword for the brief moment that we would have to get through. It was difficult, but we all managed to crowd under my weapon.

But we didn't make it through.

The dome rejected us, repelling us backwards and making us tumble into more of the zombie-like creatures. I furiously got up and came running towards that evil force-field, slicing it with my sword. A zherti gripped my hair bun and pulled my to the ground, receiving an angry kick from Pamela in return. I rubbed my bleeding head and looked back up at the dome.

I had sliced an entryway that was keeping the zherti away from it. Zachary helped me up, and I let out a sigh of relief. We rushed through, Pamela taking my sword and healing us all on the way.

And with a bloody smile that was about to be healed, I screamed, "We made it!"
