Michael tried very hard not to freak out about the spilled ice cream but he's quite the neat freak. He has OCD and will freak out about stuff, but with his ADHD he doesn't usually focus on the situation for too long. It was hard for him but he always said we helped him cope.

Michael had a very conflicting personality. He was outgoing yet had anxiety that held him back. He couldn't decide if he liked girls or guys romantically so he decided on in between, coming out as bisexual a few years ago. He'd never had a girlfriend or boyfriend before though which made it even harder for him to know.

Despite all that raged through his thoughts, you could never meet a sweeter guy. Anne and I met him in the sixth grade and immediately took to him. He was the new kid and the teachers and other kids treated him different because of his "conditions." Some kids bullied him, others stayed clear because they thought he was contagious. Anne took what the other kids were doing to Michael to heart. She'd been having to stand up for her brother with Down syndrome for as long as she could remember and knew no one deserved to be treated differently.

Michael had stuck with us ever since the day we sat next to him at lunch. There was an immediate connection between the three of us.

He had the brightest smile and blue-green eyes you'll ever see. His laugh was funny in itself, a mixture between Elmo from Sesame Street and a hyaena. The best part is he would laugh at pretty much anything. There was one time Anne had just pointed to a wall and acted surprised and Michael just lost it, laughing for no reason at all. Whenever he was around I knew I'd have at least one laugh that day.

He was the best person to talk to about relationship problems despite him never having one. We all loved to hang out with him and check out guys and talk about our crushes.

It didn't become weird for Anne and I until Gavin came around and wanted check out girls. She and I didn't become comfortable checking out girls with them until we learned the term "no-homo" and became super close with Gavin as well.
