As the days went by living in the wilderness turned out to be just about as terrible as living in the lower class cities.
My food was limited to whatever I could find or hunt and my supplies like clothing started to run low seeing as they couldn't be washed.
I discovered that I couldn't keep living like this and I have to return to the city.
As that day went by and I packed up my things I heard someone coming in the direction of the clearing I had been hiding in.
I quickly grabbed my things and hid behind the giant tree I had taken a liking to.
Once I reached high enough that I couldn't be seen I stopped and just waited for the people to pass through the clearing.
"Where is she? We've looked everywhere and we can't find her." I heard a male say.
I looked around a few branches that were in my way and saw that they had stopped beneath my hiding place.
I froze and just started hoping they wouldn't look up.
"I don't know where she is and I know we've looked everywhere. I don't get why the prince is having us look so hard. This girl must be important to him." I heard the other man say.
It was then I got a good look at the men. Their uniforms showed they were some of the prince's lower guard. You could tell they hadn't gotten much sleep in the past few weeks cause they didn't hold themselves like the guard normally do. Their shoulders hung as they slouched and they leaned against the tree as if their own legs were about to give out.
I just sat and listened as they spoke for a long while and when they finally left it was around lunch time and you could hear my stomach demonstrating the sound of a dying whale.
I searched for awhile trying to find food and once I did I ate it quickly and went running towards civilization.
When I got close enough to see the edge of town I saw that guards were stationed along the edge of the city waiting for me to show my face.
I slowly started walking around the city with the trees covering me so I stayed unseen.
As I walked I saw that they took shifts and changed guards every few hours. So I chose the best place to sneak in and wait till the transferred guards again.
After three hours of waiting the guards started moving in towards the castle and I saw the new guards coming out. I quickly snuck in and hid behind a building. I waited patiently for the guards to pass me and when they did I continued into the city hiding from guards when I saw them.
I only stopped when I reached the destination I was heading for. I reached the small cafe and went around to the back door.
Haven opened the door and as soon as she saw me her eyes widened and she looked around before pulling me into the small building.
"What are you doing here Camille?" She asked while holding me and arms length away.
"I just need some food. I've been eating whatever I was able to find while I was in the woods." I told her while balancing on the balls of my feet due to nerves.
