2 years later

I woke up to knocking on my cabin door.

I pulled myself out of my bed and walked to the door not caring if I looked like a mess considering I've lived with these people for a year and a half.

When I opened the door Mona, an old servant of the castle, was standing there.

"The scouts have spotted a group heading this way Cam." She told me.

"Alright. I'll be right there." I told her with a nod.

She nodded and walked away while I closed the door.

As I rushed to get dressed I took a moment and looked at the necklace that hung on my neck.

A tear fell down my cheek but I quickly wiped it away and finished getting dressed.

When I was done I rushed outside and to the center of the village where everyone had gathered.

When I reached the makeshift stage we had made everyone became quiet.

"Hello everyone." I announced loudly.

"Now I know you're all worried but I'm going to take care of this." I said and whispers spread throughout the crowd.

"Quiet!" I shouted.

"I'm going to head out on my own and meet the group. I will then lead them away from our home." I told them once it was quiet.

Everyone was pleased with what I had said and dispersed back to what they had been doing previously.

I made my way over to the few scouts who had returned with the news.

"I want you to stay here and make sure nothing happens. If anything happens blow the horn and I'll be back as soon as I can. Am I understood?" I asked.

They nodded back at me and then went to the scouting posts around the village.

After that I made my way back to my cabin to pack the necessary things I would need.

When I reached my cabin  Mona and a few others were standing in front of it.

"We have come to help Cam." Kasey said from her spot on the stairs.

I just laughed and let them into my cabin.

As soon as they were in they immediately started packing.

I only smiled and made my way over to the chest in the corner.

I opened it and took a good look at the items inside it.

Knives, guns, and other weapons sat waiting to be used and a small latched door sat on the top waiting to be opened.

I opened the latch and took out the photos that it held.

My family stared back at me. Smiling and laughing.

A rush of nostalgia hit me and I wanted to start crying... but I didn't. Instead I put the pictures in one of my pockets and started hiding knives wherever I could.

By the time I had hidden all of my weapons it had been only half an hour and everything I would need was in a large backpack waiting by the door.

I took one look at the woman who had packed my bag and noticed they looked like they were going to cry.

"Hey there is no need to cry. I'll be back before you know it." I told them as I pulled them into a group hug.

It wasn't until noon that I left the village I had grown to call home and though I knew that I would be coming back... It felt like I would never return to this place.

When I left I had no other fear than the fear that something would happen to the village... Little did I know at the time that I would gain several new fears... and new friends...
