: chapter three
make me feel somethingbeing with millie had started to make finn feel something, and he didn't like it at all. he wanted to believe that something is just nothing.
every time finn wakes up, millie is already nowhere to be found but she never forgets to leave him coffee to drink to first thing in the morning. she'd also leave sticky notes, when she left him her first coffee she wrote:
taught myself. still doesn't taste as good as yours though xx - m.b
this has been their daily routine. at first, it brought a smile to finn's face every time he reads the notes she leaves him but as the time goes by he has gotten sick of it just because he only sees mystery girl every night, both of them still not questioning each other, only passing cigarettes and beers back and forth, seeing more bruises on her face, and millie still not wanting for finn to touch them.
finn kicked the apples and oranges scattered on the floor that ended up being rotten because both teens preferred. . .well, cigarettes and beers.
he grabbed hold of the doorknob and gazed his eyes at eleven, "i'll be back, just need some fresh air," the small creature let out a coo and he considered it as a response so he jogged towards the roof.
he sat down at the edge of the roof and sighed in contentment.
something about being at the edge of death makes him feel so alive.
he scooted closer to the edge and lifted his arms up as if he was able to touch the whole galaxy. and then he thought, what's the point of all this?
he tried to think of reasons to stay alive, but all he thought about were cigarettes. which was ironic and kind of funny to him because cigarettes kill him, even though those sticks of murderers make him feel something.
aha! think of all the things that make you feel something, they'll make you want to be alive.
so he started thinking.
milliemilliemilliemilliemilliemilliemilliemilliemilliemilliemilliemill-
SHUT THE FUCK UP!
he slapped and composed himself. he peeked and adjusted himself closer to where he could see the bottom of the building clearer and for a second there it felt like he was floating. like he was in control of everything. which he was, he was in control to let himself fall and end his life just like that.
he was in control of everything except for millie.
and then he heard someone yelling from behind. that someone was yelling his name. that someone was running so fast, he assumed because he heard the panting and the loud footsteps. that someone then grabbed both of his arms and faced him.
and that's when finn realized that someone is mystery girl. millie. new compilation of bruises and fresh blood on her face.
"what the hell were you thinking?!" she approached angrily that it made finn feel so small despite of their huge height difference.
"i-"
"finn!" and she was screaming, so loud that echoes followed afterwards. "don't leave me! you can't just leave me!" and now she was crying, her hands were still tightly gripped on his arms that it made him slightly wince in pain.
mystery girl has tears streaming down her face as she scanned his body to check if he was hurt in some sort of way. and for the first time in a long time, they weren't passing cigarettes back and forth, they weren't ignoring each other even when they see each other in the room, but their eyes were locked so deeply.
finn has never seen millie's eyes this weak, and it scared him. because she has always been the strong one.
he wondered why mystery girl is always so caring and selfless when it comes to others, to eleven and to him, but never to herself.
she saved him, but why couldn't she let him save her back?
"i wasn't leaving," finn's voice was barely a whisper.
"then what were you doing?!" mystery girl searched for his eyes, but he just stood still and kept his eyes down.
"i can't lose you, finn! you're the only one i have!" millie started hiccuping due to her uncontrollable sobs. while finn was stunned.
finn started to wonder if this is what being needed back feels like. because heaven knows that he needs her even if he'd never admit it to her or to himself, she was the only reason for him to want to stay. not just in this abandoned building, but in life.
he didn't need to touch her, he just needed to know she was there.
"i. . ." he was at loss of words.
and just like that— millie crashed her lips on his. he was being pressed so tightly against mystery girl that his heart started pounding uncontrollably like it was about to explode. and now mystery girl's fingers are in his curly locks as finn's brain finally caught up with his body. and they're kissing. and they're kissing. and they're kissing. he doesn't know if he's a good kisser, but with his lips on hers it felt like it didn't matter. he tasted the metallic tinge on her lips but it didn't matter. nothing matters to him except for mystery girl and this moment because oh god it didn't just make him feel something—
it made him feel everything.
