: chapter one
i have questionsfinn woke up with the same position he had last night. he turned his gaze to mystery girl, who's still peacefully sleeping and her legs still rested on his lap.
he examined the room for a slight second, still familiarizing himself with it. he then gently lifted mystery girl's legs and put them on the couch.
he went over to open the fridge, only to find a pitcher, corn starch, beer and some rotten fruit inside. he opened some cabinet and saw sight of multiple mugs and coffee sachets in it.
i guess this is good enough. he thought.
he opened two sachets with his teeth and put the powder in the mugs. he then grabbed a pitcher from the fridge and poured cool water to finish.
he went back to the cabinet to look for spoons and sighed in relief that he found some, he slightly leaned in to reach for it, as he accidentally sniffed dusts that made him sneeze loudly.
millie was woken up by the noise, she lifted her head and cluelessly scanned the room, only finding him watching her. she was a bit shocked that he didn't leave.
mystery girl sat on the couch, stretching her arms that caused a yawn escape her lips. she watched finn mix the ingredients with a spoon. he then slowly walked near the girl, his eyes fixated at the mugs so he won't spill the drink.
he plopped on the couch and handed her the other mug. he noticed mystery girl examine the coffee suspiciously, "how can i trust you that you didn't put poison or some shit in this?"
he almost choked on his drink, "says the girl who dragged me to this building out of nowhere,"
mystery girl was about to argue back, but later realized that he had a point so she pursed her lips back. finn smirked at himself in victory.
millie sniffed her coffee and sighed. feeling contentment by the aromatic scent that entered her nostrils. she finally put her lips between the mug and was astonished because it tasted so much better than she expected it to be, she noticed him smirking at her.
"it's cold," she hid her amazement. "i know, but your fridge only has corn starch and beer inside it. . .what the hell am i supposed to do with that," millie couldn't help but chuckle.
they both just sat there in silence, enjoying their drink. "your coffee tastes good, finn," she said sincerely. he lingered his eyes at mystery girl who was already looking at him. he let out a grateful smile, "i know, but thanks," she released a giggle.
she checked her watch and it said 7:40 am. she cursed to herself and hurriedly jogged to the doorway.
finn furrowed his eyebrows in confusion and stood up, "where are you going?"
mystery girl stopped from her tracks and looked at her shoulder, "somewhere," she whispered almost inaudibly. he noticed the sudden change of her tone, like she was just being forced by something to go to that somewhere.
finn heard mystery girl's footsteps from outside the room, from the fire escape, until he finally heard no footsteps at all, while isolation came rushing back to him.
he crashed himself on the couch and looked at the cracked ceilings, he wondered if mystery girl's coming home.

10:45 pm
finn guessed that 10:45 pm was the current time because he had no money to buy a watch to begin with.
he fixated his eyes at the millions of raindrops falling from the window, he picked out two and made them race. he lost sight of them so he decided to sit back on the couch.
he sighed in boredom. he wanted to leave this place, yet he doesn't know what was holding himself back. he believed that it was the storm, but in the back of his mind it was just because of someone.
finn slightly flinched when he heard footsteps from outside his and millie's room (he liked to call it that way), he heard mystery girl's familiar pretty voice but later speculated that she was talking to someone.
the talkings were inaudible to finn because of the loud storm that's not going to stop any sooner. but he was sure that the other someone was a guy, probably the same age as his, and the conversation involved shouting, swearing, stomping the floor aggressively, and even more shouting.
a few minutes have passed and the shouting piped down, that's when finn realized that mystery guy left the building.
finn saw the doorknob turn around so he immediately flopped down on the couch and shifted sideways where mystery girl can't see his face.
he focused his hearing at her movements, he heard a loud creak from the cabinet so he assumed that she was looking for a glass to drink.
pure silence filled the room except for the deafening storm, he waited for something to happen until moments have passed and he heard a glass hit the floor.
he couldn't resist his concern so he instantly got up and saw sight of broken glass scattered on the floor, while millie has her arms wrapped around her legs and her head rested on them.
finn walked near mystery girl slowly to prevent the glass from damaging his feet, he kneeled down beside her and shook her gently.
millie lifted her head and he was met by more bruises and blood on her face. he stretched his arm to touch the purple spots but she just leaned backwards, as usual. he watched as the tears escape from her eyes.
all finn wanted to do was to wipe them away, and wrap his arms around her tightly for whatever the hell she's going through. but in the back of his mind, he swore that he shouldn't dare touching her, because she was a masterpiece despite of being already ripped at every edge, and he wouldn't let himself ruin her even more.
so all he did was grab a wet cloth and gently apply it on her wounded eye, he noticed her quivering lips and her uncontrollable shaking body so he removed the denim jacket she gave to him and put it back on her.
finn looked for a broom and a dustpan to sweep the broken glass yet he found none so he decided to just pick them up with his hands when mystery girl spoke up, "don't," she said firmly.
he dropped the piece of glass from his hands and sat on the floor beside her. he wondered why she refused for him to pick them up, but he decided to just shrug it off.
they never question each other, that's just the way things work with them.
finn broke the silence, "you don't deserve him," he stood up and laid on the couch sideways, his back facing millie.
he didn't dare to wait for an answer yet mystery girl still spoke up, "if not him, then who?" her voice sounded desperate and hoarse from the yelling.
he thought for a reply, but ended up resulting a deep sigh.
he wanted to know the answer too. . .he just badly wanted to.
