I awoke to hear machines running and Lacie knocked out on the floor with blood around her forehead.

'I need to either leave or save her then leave... I'm causing too much drama,' I thought as Sam entered looking at Lacie then me.

"Do you want to know what I'm going to do to you, or would you rather not hear and just wait?"

I remained calm and just looked at Lacie hoping she would wake up. It would relieve some of my pain and worry for her at the moment.

Sam looked my way and sneered, "don't mind her. She'll be fine and won't want anything to do with you after this."

He came over and injected something white and thick into a tube that was connected to my arm. Suddenly Lacie came about and yelled, "no you can't do that to him! He'll die!"

At first I had no idea what she was talking about and thought maybe she had hit her head too hard to know what was being injected. Then I realized she was right when I felt an excruciating pain in my veins and realized he was going to poison me.

"Great way to die," I muttered seeing Lacie in tears as she desperately tried to help me. Sam let her come over and try to help me but of course she was too weak. I couldn't even break the chains that were restraining me, which was impossible because usually I could break chains of steel.

I continued to struggle as the poison spread through my body and my vision started going blurry.

"No Michael, stay with me okay?" Lacie yelled in desperation and tried yanking the chains once more.

There was a growl to my left and I saw wings as my parents and sister stood directly above me.

"Michael hang on," Amelia said as she dove for Sam and pulled him into the air.

Sam began screaming and demanded to be put down. Amelia didn't let go as my parents made their way over to help Lacie.

"It's okay Lacie, we'll get it," my mom said reassuringly.

She nodded, not even realizing my mom knew her name. I didn't even know how she did at this point but didn't care.

"Sorry dad, I meant to let you know, I really was," I stammered.

My dad looked at me and nodded. Once my chains were released, Amelia put Sam in the chains and we went back to our den with Lacie.

"Lacie, this is my mom, dad, and sister, Amelia," I said when we got to the entrance.

"I'm really sorry if I caused you guys to get in trouble. I didn't mean too and was only curious,"

My mom nodded and cut her off, "we understand Lacie, we're not mad."

Lacie sighed in relief and patted my hand.

I looked down myself and saw to my amazement to see a small puncture wound not too big. It was barely noticeable. I took Lacie's hand and squeezed it tenderly. I was actually surprised that my parents weren't trying to get rid of her.

'Maybe they'll do it later. Who knows?' I thought as my sister looked at me in wonder.

Amelia went to talk to Lacie and so did my mom leaving me with my dad.

"Are you mad at me for interacting with a human?"

He shook his head, which surprised me, "no I actually like the girl. You'll be fine for now."

I smiled and looked over at Lacie, my mom and Amelia just laughing and smiling.

"She's nice," my dad said looking at Lacie.

"I agree," and watched as they back over to where we were.

"Your mom and sister are so nice," she whispered and intertwined my fingers with her. I didn't blame her, being around a family of gargoyles was probably her dream as a scientist.

"Yea, they're really great," I smiled back at my family.

"What do you plan on doing about Sam, Lacie?" Amelia asked her later.

"I honestly have no idea. All I know is his parents don't know that I broke up with him and that I'm with a gargoyle. His parents were the ones that arranged this trip. They were going to come later to check on us," she explained.

My parents and sister nodded, knowing they had done something similar with me anyways.

"Well Lacie, we don't have very comfortable quarters here, so how about we all go to a place where you can stay?" my mom asked.

Lacie spoke up, "I really don't mind staying here, unless we need to get you out of trouble from Sam. Thank you though... Mrs?"

Lacie looked at my mom unsure of what to say, "just cal me Liliana and this is Mark, my husband."

"That's a pretty name," she blushed.

My mother smiled and looked at Mark, "where do you think we should go?"

Mark looked at the four of us, "where we normally go when something like this happens. Canada."
