I felt the mist spray us lightly and the water roaring beneath us. We flew to the side and saw inside a huge, dark and unoccupied cave.
"Nice choice Amelia," I commended, hearing my voice echo.
Amelia lit a match and lit the torches that were up against the walls. It was a pretty well sized cave that had no tunnels, it just extended back really far.
"Wow, this is... different," Lacie said turning around and facing Amelia.
She went over to Lace and dropped a green duffle bag in front of her.
"Here's clothes and stuff for you, and here's mine," she dropped a hot pink bag by her.
I walked over to the wall and dropped my grey bag by it while watching the girls lay out their clothes. Then they proceeded to ooh and awe over them all. Craning my neck, I tried to find the outfit Lacie had been telling me about earlier. When I didn't see it, I grew confused until I noticed Lacie walking away with it in her hands and going deeper into the cave to change or something.
I dug through my bag and pulled out some shorts and a t-shirt to sleep in.
"Why they aren't putting pajamas on, I don't know," I said to myself and sat on the edge of the waterfall.
The thought of Lacie and Sam came back into my head as I shuddered and tried to get it out. I didn't realize Lacie was right behind me until her voice sounded, making me jump. "You okay?"
I turned to look at her and gasped. The outfit fit perfectly on her as if it were a second skin. She came to sit beside me, despite the fact that she could ruin her skinny jeans.
Clearing my head, I tried to ignore the question, "Lace you look great."
She smiled but then frowned, "Michael, answer the question."
I didn't like when angels frowned, especially since she seemed to resemble one.
"Okay it's just... well the fact that you and Sam were still the only two is still really bothering me. Especially since he hurt you."
I knew I was acting pathetic and being over protective, but I couldn't help it.
Lacie seemed to understand, "Michael don't worry about that. It's just you and me now, and we won't ever see Sam again." She inched closer to me and leaned her head on my shoulder.
My breath caught and I tried to make it seem normal. Lacie didn't notice my shortness of breath and just remained there. I didn't care if Amelia was right behind us at the moment, because nothing could ruin this.
Amelia obviously wasn't behind us because I could hear her doing something further behind me but i didn't bother turning my head to see.
She crept behind us, "I found a way for us to sleep... sort of. Do you want to come look?"
Lacie and I got up to go see what kind of creation Amelia had made. She had pushed some boulders together for us to lie across. I pulled out three small pillows and two blankets from my bag.
Lacie smiled, "nice thinking."
"Thanks Lace," I left the girls to figure out the sleeping arrangements while I checked the perimeter. There seemed to be no one here so I wasn't worried.
Lacie came up to me, "hey Amelia and I are going to crash, is that okay with you?"
"Yea, I'll take first watch and wake up Amelia next."
"Okay. Goodnight Michael and thanks for everything," she kissed me shortly before going back into the cave.
I flew out of the cave one last time to make sure no one was hanging around, and was satisfied when I saw nothing. Leaning against the wall I sighed and watched the water falling in front of me. Somehow it got me to start thinking of how much trouble I was going to be in from this. Thinking of how upset Lacie had been at me as well for earlier didn't comfort me either. What if she was still bitter about it? It would probably be best to just wait awhile before even daring to ask.
