"She'll get through, you think?" May questioned, leaning against the wall on the floor, her head inclined to face the ceiling. "She's get through, so will her brother. They're very talented, especially Colton. I can tell," I told her. She nodded, her eyes remaining closed. "She okay?" She asked, dipping her head in the direction of Olive, whose head was perched on edge of my shoulder, barely touching, but still doing so. "Yeah, I think she's just upset over Randy's verdict," I said, quietly. "I don't think she expected them to like you so much." Olive's eyes kept closed, even breaths escaping and entering her sleeping body. May shrugged, "Not saying I did, either. She's so good, I don't know why they'd think that of her, but not of me." I shrugged, not knowing what to say. "Maybe there was something special about you, May. Your beauty, voice, something." Her cheeks lit up, becoming the shade of red I'd never expect to see on her. "Sorry," she whispered, trying not to wake her sleeping sister. "I guess I've heard too many people tell me that today, not used to it, not just yet. Olive's the same, we've never really had anyone to tell us that kind of stuff." It sounded, and looked, as if May was all Olive had, that she was her guardian. "Well, you're both so beautiful in appearance and voice. It's just that Olive has much more confidence than you but that's not a bad thing," I quickly added as May shot me a glare, "ask Colton, he'll agree on all points." She cocked an eyebrow up, still looking up at me. "You two on a first name basis now?" I shook my head. "The guy hasn't said a lot to me. We might call each other by our last names." May grinned, "Dixon, Woolf, that sounds promising." I felt Olive begin to stir, her head moving to a different position on my shoulder before it stood still once again. May didn't take her eyes off of me, or off of Olive. "If you break her heart, Sam Woolf, I don't think it will be able to be fixed again." I turned my head to look at her. "I would never do that, May. I'm not that type of person." She nodded, her eyes not leaving the face of her sister. What shone in her eyes wasn't something I ever really saw, it was love. It was care, and compassion, and the willing to stand up for that person. "You know, May. If I do break her heart, I don't think I'd be able to ever forgive myself, but don't think I'd stop being her friend for one second." She smiled, slightly. "Some things change, Sam. One moment you could think you loved her, the next, you could treat her like dirt. That's how everyone is." Her voice grew bitter at the end. She was talking from personal experience, I could tell. Her voice lightened up a little bit as she spoke. "Please give me permission to hurt you if you hurt her." I chuckled, nodding my head "Permission granted." I turned my head to the loud voices breaking through the doors, my actions causing Olive to jump. "You sucked me in again!" The voice of who I assumed to be Colton echoing down the hall, mixed with the sound of footsteps. "You sucked me in!" Colton yelled once again as him and Schyler rounded the corner. Schyler was grinning at him and Colton was staring at his golden ticket in utter amazement. "Oh my goodness!" May screamed, her blonde curls bouncing. "I knew you would make it! What did I tell you?" Her eyes then seemed to land on the magical golden paper in Colton's hands, "You auditioned? You did it?" Colton raised his eyebrows at her, a huge grin still broke out on his face. I could tell it was a playful gesture. "Schyler sucked me in again! Her and the judges forced me to audition!" Olive leaned back with her arms over her chest, multiple traces of sleep still visible in her eyes. "All of you through?" Schyler said, looking around at us. May nodded, the grin still implanted on her face. "Yep, all of us are through." Colton still stared at his ticket in his disbelief. "I can't believe it. They passed me through." May punched him in the arm. It was an awkward motion, but Colton didn't notice. "Believe it, Colton. You have talent, just like Sam said." Colton turned towards me. "You said I had talent? You didn't even hear me sing." I shrugged, ignoring the tone in the back of his comment. "You can tell by looking at you, Colton. It's just there." Olive looked at all of us, her eyes meeting every other pair. "Five of us, five of us are through." Colton rubbed his hands together before clasping his fingers together in a tight knot. "This calls for some kind of celebration, dinner, on me. All five of us."
